Roma Kyoto Profumum Roma 2026

I would have expected something completely different. This is a creamy, spicy oriental fragrance, a beautiful blend of ylang-ylang, vanilla and patchouli, soon joined by a lovely soft coconut note, almost milkshake-like, and a generous, enveloping cinnamon accord. Everything here feels rich and indulgent, even the lavender!
The fragrance constantly dances between the exotic and the spicy. Do you know what it reminded me of? A curious meeting point between Kenzo Jungle , Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense and Cannella Dolce : the spiciness of the first, the softness of the second and the sweetness of the third.
A scent with character and impressive longevity, carrying a slightly vintage charm reinterpreted in a softer and more refined way. I wouldn't consider it a summer fragrance, at least not during intense heat. I can see it working on summer evenings, but with restraint. To me, it truly shines from October onwards, when the first cool days arrive and a touch of nostalgia for those long summer evenings starts to set in.

Really interesting fragrance. I’m currently testing it from an official Profumum Roma sample.

The first impression immediately brings to mind a blend of two Lorenzo Pazzaglia fragrances, Van Sea and Dream Sea, intertwined with the powdery facets of Confetto. That said, Roma Kyoto clearly has its own identity and is neither a copy nor an “inspired by” interpretation. It simply evokes the sensation of an unfamiliar scent that feels as though it could exist somewhere between those two LP creations, with subtle touches reminiscent of Confetto woven in.

What stands out most during the opening is a sparkling quality sitting over a deeper base, all wrapped in a smooth coconut-like accord. It feels like a body lotion applied after a long day in the sun, soothing, creamy, and slightly sweet. In the background there is also a seaside impression, but presented in a refined and luxurious way rather than something raw or windy. The overall picture is that of a five star hotel by the sea, where everything is polished and calm. You are sun kissed, perfectly groomed, and sitting down for a cocktail after a day of doing nothing except relaxing in the sun. You have just showered, applied after sun care, and settled into a quiet, elegant atmosphere.

After around 15 minutes, a gentle and powdery violet note begins to appear, slowly shifting the mood as you prepare for a refined dinner later in the evening. Overall it feels calm and composed, but consistently luxurious. Nothing loud or overly exotic, just a smooth and serene environment surrounded by understated beauty and effortless elegance.

In the end, where the two Lorenzo Pazzaglia fragrances I mentioned leaned a little too heavily into either vanilla or synthetic accords for my taste, Roma Kyoto feels far more nuanced and natural. It has multiple layers that gradually reveal themselves, supported by elegant touches like the violet note. I don't necessarily understand the association between the scent profile and the name "Roma Kyoto". "Ultima Luce" or "Aura Dorata" would have been my pick, most likely.

The opening honestly surprised me. With "Kyoto," I expected something dry or woody, instead, this creamy blend of coconut and orange comes right through. Almost a bit like high-quality sunscreen - warm, soft, but not artificial or cheap. While it doesn't really fit the name for me, I still quite like it.

After about 30 minutes, the scent changes again. The violet together with the cinnamon takes away some of the initial sweetness, and in between, a cooler note comes in briefly from the lavender. On my skin, mainly vanilla with patchouli remains in the end: warm, slightly heavy, more suitable for the evening than for daytime.

The projection is definitely noticeable without completely taking over the room. Longevity for me is about 6 to 7 hours. It would probably be too much for everyday wear, but on cooler summer evenings, I really enjoy wearing it.

When I first read "Kyoto," I was set on bamboo, woods & Asian temples. A scent that forces you internally to voluntarily lay stones in the garden symmetrically on the weekend & to nourish your houseplants with "energy" instead of water.

However, the first spray completely ignored this plan.

Instead of temples, I got luxury vacation.
Instead of meditation, I got spa.
Instead of incense sticks, it suddenly smells like the moment when a five-star hotel says: "Welcome, we have been expecting you."

From that moment on, it was clear: Kyoto has about as much to do with my original expectation as a bathrobe does with a samurai.

What does it smell like?
Kyoto starts with coconut & orange. Together, it smells like sunscreen, but not the tube that has been sitting in the glove compartment for three summers.

I mean the kind that is just quietly placed in a luxury hotel bathroom & makes you automatically think: "I definitely shouldn't take this with me."

After a short time, the scent becomes a bit more elegant. The violet takes away some of the sweetness from the creamy coconut note, while the cinnamon brings a warm, cozy depth. The lavender only stops by briefly, about as long as your motivation to go to the gym after work lasts.

In the drydown, vanilla & patchouli take the wheel. This makes Kyoto noticeably warmer & gives it an elegant, creamy aura. Towards the end, it smells like the moment when grandma asks: "Another piece of vanilla cookie?", even though your pants button is starting to get nervous.

Longevity & sillage?
For a fragrance from "Profumum Roma," the longevity surprises no one. Kyoto lasts 8 hours on my skin. The fragrance oils cling to the skin like the sticky pickled cucumber on the ceiling that I ordered off at Burger King but still ended up on my burger.
Or rather, had....

The sillage is pleasantly present. Kyoto is not one of those fragrances that enters the room five minutes before you and already orders drinks. It comes in more like someone who says: "I'll just be a moment," then lays their coat somewhere, sits down & automatically becomes part of the group without anyone being able to say exactly when that actually happened. At some point, you realize that the whole room suddenly smells as if someone had set up a spa in the corner.

Conclusion?
Kyoto is the best proof that you should never judge a fragrance by its name.

I expected bamboo.
I got coconut & orange.
I expected meditation.
I got violet & cinnamon.
I wanted a quiet, Asian temple.
What I got was a luxurious spa vacation with vanilla & patchouli.

If you like fragrances that smell creamy, warm & high-quality and are perfect for relaxed summer evenings when the sun has long gone but no one really wants to go home, then Kyoto is just right.
It works, among other things, at dinners, outdoors, in the office, on vacation, or simply on those evenings that stretch longer than planned & are exactly why they are so good.

Or in other words:

Kyoto makes you smell like you have a permanent spot at the spa, even if your most valuable possession is the almost full stamp card from the kebab shop & he now greets you with "Boss."

Rarely have I experienced such heat in Germany in my 28 years. My most loyal companion during these sleepless nights has once again been Parfumo - and of course the search for new summer fragrances for 2026.
In the process, I came across Roma Kyoto by Profumum Roma. The brand already holds a high place in my esteem. Like many, my journey began with "Acqua e Zucchero | Profumum Roma," the probably most well-known fragrance of the house.
So the decision was made quickly: Still in that sleepless night, I pre-ordered Roma Kyoto.
This morning, the bottle finally arrived, and I was initially a bit puzzled. For a brief moment, I actually thought: Did I just order a luxurious sun spray? The opening reminds me exactly of a high-quality sunscreen from Nivea. This creamy, sunny note remains surprisingly present for a long time.

Over time, however, a pleasantly bitter freshness joins in. Patchouli also becomes perceptible gradually, adding a bit more depth to the fragrance. The longevity is - as one knows from Profumum Roma - truly outstanding.

In my opinion, Roma Kyoto overall feels rather feminine. However, anyone who enjoys creamy, sun-kissed fragrances with subtle freshness should definitely take a look at it.
