At night, when everything is asleep
At night the world stops, all the hustle and bustle disappears and life seems more eternal to me than during the day.

At night, when my family is asleep, I belong to myself all alone Nobody makes demands, has expectations, demands for my attention ....nobody watches me being mere.
I am alone, but not lonely.

At night I can do what I want, be who I want, think how I want, and be quiet without interruption as long as I want.

At night I often sit on my romper chair, cuddled up in a fleece bathrobe and blanket, watch one episode after another of my favourite series or write as I did just now - a bar of chocolate and a cup of tea next to me, which is unavoidable for me as a sugarholic
At night in winter the whole thing is most comfortable.
Through the balcony door I see the tender, dense, glittering flakes, sometimes I also open the door to hear the soft crackling of the falling snow and to be able to snuggle myself even deeper into my blanket against the cold, hold my warm cup in my hands, savour my chocolate and simply enjoy that I am.

At night it smells of cuddly blankets, chocolate, spiced tea, darkness and sometimes snow.
Enveloping, warming, peaceful and silent.

And that's how Patchouli Elixir smells - of time for myself.

A portal to Middle Earth..
I am totally overwhelmed.
Patchouli Elixir is so multi-faceted, deep, dark, smoky, earthy. Somehow mystical.
I am a total fantasy fan. I love to dive into this fantasy world, there is nothing more beautiful.
A world full of myths and legends.
A world in which I can live as I would like.
A world full of mythical creatures, wizards, elves, dwarves and goblins, a world full of power, struggle, peace, friendship, hope, confidence and love.
A world in which everything seems possible.

Patchouli Elixir transports me to Middle Earth...
i am on my way to Tom Bombadil, the Lord of the Old Forest. His hut lies deep in it, surrounded and protected by the ancient trees.
It crackles and whispers in the branches, the trees creak and it sounds as if they are talking to each other. The bushes are tall and reach deep. The leaves cover the ground, small mushrooms grow everywhere at the edge of the path. A fine mist moves through the undergrowth.
It is dark, damp and a little eerie, not scary but mystical. You realize that something is happening here that we mortals do not understand.
The scent of the forest is unmistakable. Woody, damp-sultry, earthy, spicy, smoky, deep, dark and rich. I suck it in deeply and pause reverently. Yes here I feel at home. Here I feel the magic of the forest, which has so much magic inne that nothing can compare.
I walk on the ancient paths further, deeper into the forest that is as ancient as the world, until Tom's hut on the hill becomes recognizable. A winding path leads up. Arrived at the top, he and his wife Goldberry awaits me joyfully and opens the door to his wonderfully quaint little hut in which it is so cozy and homely as nowhere else....
.
.
.
Nothing is more beautiful than a fragrance that gives you the opportunity to experience wonderful moments, whether in memory, in thought or in a fantasy world. This is exactly what Patchouli Elixir creates in such a wonderful way.

After I was totally blown away by "Patchouli | Réminiscence", I got a sample of the Patchouli Elixir from the dear Mrs.Cherry (many thanks again) and I am more than grateful for this wonderful fragrance image.

I am then once again in Middle Earth and hope for a visit from Frodo and Gandalf ....

Honey Patchouli
Hey hey guys, today I'm describing, how could it be any different, another scent. Of course I'd like to talk about other things like comics or Star Wars or something else, but I started with scents and have to write comments here until the end of my life... do I really have to? *sigh* All right, I'm doing it! D

It's about Patchouli Elixir of Réminiscence. Patchoulidufte are with me always such a thing. There are beautiful perfumes among these fragrances, as well as less successful ones. But often I don't like Patchouli so much, especially when the fragrance is quite intense and I think it makes the fragrance a bit more beautiful, but that's all a matter of taste, as always. Why should there otherwise be violent, abnormal scents, which also have their fans like that? Coriander is such a fragrance, ylang-ylang (ohhh the "thing" is perhaps sultry) as well as of course stuffy freesias (or other stuffy flower), much too oppressive oud etc...? But there are people who like such abnormal scents! Because they're freaks! Otherwise they wouldn't be here on Parfumo! Yes, I am also here on Parfumo, but I am only the narrator, so that doesn't count, that means the real freaks are all of you! :DD

Hmm,... apparently I'm not able to write a comment without insulting everyone or making fun of everyone... :DD
But now that it's happened again... okay you freaks, let's get to the scent, which seems to arrive pretty well here, which is motivating, because it could be a nice scent!

The fragrance:
The fragrance begins with a beautiful mix of patchouli and cedar wood. Above all, however, one smells also quite intensively the Labdanum reminding of honey and slightly spicy.
A little later the Patchouli is a little lost, because now the Labdanum is even more open, which makes the scent much sweeter and smells of honey. The cedar now also appears softer, as softer scents such as sandalwood and balsamic scents are added. And vanilla adds powdery notes to the already soft fragrance's soft scents.
This remains so for a while until the patchouli can be smelled again in the base despite vanilla, but now in a slightly softer version, which is probably due to all the nice soft scents. It is a very beautiful fragrance, which should smell good on the skin of women, ... I think now at least ... :D

The Sillage and the shelf life:
The Sillage is good and the fragrance is not only smellable from close up. It is one of those fragrances that you can still smell quite well when the person wearing the fragrance walks past you and walks away, but the fragrance remains for a short while because of the scent cloud left behind. The shelf life is extremely good, because you can not only smell the scent on your skin for a while, but you can also perceive it a little the next morning.

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and clear with a slight inward curvature on the front. Also on the front you can see a golden label with a black frame with the name of the fragrance on it. There are also flacons of this fragrance, which are completely covered with shiny golden color and on the front in beautiful handwriting show the name of the fragrance. I think that was when the fragrance was called Inoubliable Elixir Patchouli. The old bottle was much more beautiful than the simplified bottle, which is of course not bad.

So, as written at the beginning, I think that there are well made patchouli fragrances, you also like me well, even if I should not be a big fan of this fragrance. For example, I really liked the smell here now. But I also have to say that this fragrance has to offer some other, very nice smelling scents besides the patchouli, so that it does not become a pure patchouli fragrance. There is vanilla, for example, which smells sweet, powdery and pleasantly soft as usual and the fragrance is therefore much softer, especially when combined with the equally great "softener" tolubalsam. The honey-like Labdanum also smells great and sweet-spicy and makes everything more pleasant. All in all, the fragrance is a very beautiful women's fragrance, which is especially suitable in autumn and winter as an evening and night fragrance.

By the way, the earthy patchouli and the light, spicy fragrance could make it look a bit more mature, but you'll see for yourself if you try it. So it is definitely worth testing!

And that was it again. I hope you don't feel offended because I called you freaks in the beginning (but what you are, admit it!) and I also hope you have a nice evening! See you next time :)

My summer patch
As part of my Patchouli test marathon, I have tested over 50 patch scents and essential oils over the past few months. I ordered samples from the perfumeries on the net or bought them here in the souk as bottling. Maybe I should mention that I have loved Patchouli since my youth in the late 70s. At that time it was the small, bulbous bottles that you could buy in the India shop.

I got the sample of Reminiscence Elixir together with bottlings of several other Patchouli fragrances, including Les Nereides Patchouli Precieux and Von Eusersdorff Classic Patchouli. I mention these here because I noticed during testing that the 3 fragrances are very similar. I liked all three of them and I would call them hardcore patches. Mentally I have saved them as the Patchouli triple because of their similarity. If I had to give a rating, the Les Nereides would drop off a bit, because of a slightly stabbing note shortly after spraying on, which then also subsides again. However, it makes up for this again with its very reasonable price and is therefore the price/performance winner. Besides, he may have the most beautiful base of the three.

I was going to buy the Les Nereides. Unfortunately it became the Elixir after I found a cheap offer in the net. Stinginess is not always horny and I have been annoyed first of all when I then peeled the Remi from the packaging and sprayed. Fraud and fake were my first thoughts - but no, it can't be, I'm simply holding the summer edition, which is certainly strictly limited, in my hand, I said to myself. Let's take a giant step towards the hot season right now. Refreshing he is, with the citric note at the beginning, Patchouli clearly reduced, altogether lighter, quite adapted, fits nevertheless. Even those who don't usually like patchouli could enjoy it. And he's always office fit, no question. I recently asked myself, what do you do in summer, when it's really hot, too hot for the Roma or for Patchouli Leaves? Even wanted to open a thread in the forum: Search Sommerpatch - who has a tip for me? That's all over now. Found it!

I came up with several titles for this comment, such as Zeitgeist-Parfum, Brüssel-Wasser, Camomile Tea with Lemon, 21st Century Paranoid Patch, etc. I don't know now when the fragrance was reformulated, nor do I know the reasons for it, but I can well imagine that it has fallen victim to some reformulation condition. Please don't misunderstand, I don't want to speak ill of the fragrance - it really isn't. But it differs clearly in durability, sillage and finally also in the fragrance itself. After all, this is an eau de parfum. In the '80s, he might have passed for After Shave.

Elixir isn't the only fragrance I've noticed a change in. The other day I got a bottle of Il Profumo Patchouli Noir. The perfume is a lot lighter than the one in my original bottle. Here, too, the proportion of patchouli was significantly reduced. This takes away all the depth, the spatiality, the corners and edges of this fragrance, which is built on patchouli. What remains is a shallow water that reminds you of stale beer.

In any case, it is quite clear what we can expect from a perfume in the future. A patchouli fragrance has to have a certain amount of power. I just expect you to. If it's not there anymore, I'm out. Alternatively, I use essential oils. Patchouli pure or mixed with other oils such as sandalwood, musk, orange, etc.. I'm experimenting with it a little right now. It's fun and the results are quite passable and getting better all the time.

I haven't been dealing with perfume long enough and not in sufficient detail to have a sound background knowledge. Until now, I was also not aware that there were any legal requirements regarding the ingredients, unless they were animal raw materials. I was of the opinion that changes to the fragrance came from the manufacturer, for fashion-related or professional reasons. This is annoying but still understandable. After all, there is still the possibility that on the next visit to the perfumery another manufacturer has put a similar, perhaps even better fragrance on the shelves.
Not so, however, if once again some bureaucrats' fun brakes for some absurd reason think they have to act as a scent police and thus destroy one or two small works of art. Imagine a castrated Profum Roma Patchouli. The niche fragrances will soon be the same as the mainstream fragrances. One smells like the other. Quiet and shallow, without corners or edges. Environment and health conscious. The packaging will be removed soon. And bring an empty bottle when you go to the perfumery! It's a spirit of the age perfume.

Unforgettable Patchouli
It's autumn; summer (even the Indian summer we had) is gone or well on its way out. My floral flirtations of summer are slowly replaced with my preferred olfactory "fix" of this season; orientals.

Sandalwood, leather, musk or in this case patchouli. Dark sweet smooth velveteen patchouli was what I craved this week, a bottle of Inoubliable Elixir Patchouli was needed to cuddle me during the crisp yet sunny days and lead me into the sunlight deprived days that are only getting shorter.

You see, my mother is Française and always loved the House of Réminiscence. People might think that the French use litres of Chanel, Dior, Hermes et cetera. Mais oui! They love and use the wonderful creations of French perfumery, but Houses like Réminiscence are their little secrets. Mostly only available in France and containing note mixtures that not everyone might think a good idea, they are a treat for people who are tired of mainstream and want something truly unusual yet still affordable.

"Inoubliable Elixir Patchouli" is the patchouli for people who normally wouldn't like that note, or for people who think it's a "hippy" smell. This beauty isn't, it's an magical mystery ride that shows your olfactory sense all the ways that patchouli can charm you: woody, green, smoky, sweet. I could try and explain in the limitations of words (English is not my native tongue...I would be struggling even if I tried : ) how the notes intermingle and give you a sense of: "Wow! I had NO idea patchouli based perfume could smell this good!!" but it is a ride best taken by oneself.
It's true and obvious by now; I am a fan and if you like patchouli or not, sample this beauty if you get the chance, I promise you will be amazed!

Silage is....Well...."unusual and oh so pretty" -- Longevity is an amazing 10+ hours. Now, don't think it's a linear patchouli in the vein of: "read my palm" experience, it isn't! It's a yummy oriental beauty for the true connoisseur of unusual quality. Try and sample it, it will be out little French secret! ; ) Good luck and enjoy!
