hair spray aldehydes, green and rosy floral, orris with sandalwood embrace
from a recently purchased vintage miniature. bright and clean aldehydic opening, not overly soapy or sharp but smooth and a little hairspray-like. with this, an array of florals come in an out of focus, showcasing different facets as time passes: i myself mainly pick up on the hyacinth predominantly with its snappy green aroma, quite softly though rather than too intense or pungent. rose and carnation make appearances too, jasmine later on, with only a touch of creamy ylang in the back. all of this is fused together with the orris that graciously wraps itself around the florals in a powdery embrace. eventually my skin amps up the rosiness, lain on the dusty woodiness of sandalwood and a whole lot of musk. i don't actually pick up on much of the base, which is unusual as my skin typically amplifies these notes. a little soft leatheriness, but mostly musk, sandalwood and orris, and remnants of the florals. altogether this is retro, elegant and refined without being overly stuffy or formal, which i believe is helped a lot by its subtlety. lovely!
