A Price Tip for Summer
Just Cavalli Him is a beautiful and uncomplicated fresh-citrusy men’s fragrance.
Upon spraying, this scent direction is immediately present, albeit altered. You can sense more than just the lemon, but you can't quite pinpoint what it is. Only when looking at the pyramid do you realize it - Just Cavalli Him has a distinct rosemary note. Not the pitiful dried rosemary from the spice rack, but a towering bush under the Mediterranean sun. You can clearly smell the essential oil of the rosemary.
After a while, something floral joins in, but not too much: the geranium. Geranium has nothing to do with geraniums. It is derived from a type of pelargonium. Its scent is mostly rose-like. It is a common alternative to expensive rose oils. Then, a bit of spice and some woodiness become noticeable, but not dominant. However, the rosemary note from the beginning fades quite quickly. Now the scent is floral-citrusy and remains so. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the impressive further details of the pyramid. They suggest a complexity that isn’t really there. For example, I didn’t notice any iris.
I have worn Just Cavalli Him on various occasions. It is a fresh, light, and subtle office and summer scent. The Cavalli fragrances are readily available in southern Germany at Müller drugstores, where they are positioned at the lower end of the mid-price segment. The current price of around €30 for 60 ml is okay. I find Just Cavalli Him a good alternative to more expensive and stylish aquatics and citrus summer fragrances; it doesn’t need to hide at all. Just Cavalli Him is not overly scratchy, although one must expect cheaper ingredients in this category. I have a slight suspicion that this perfume dulls the wearer’s sense of smell after a while. Other fragrance reviews elsewhere have reported this as well. In any case, I won’t be tempted to reapply. In this respect, there is a resemblance to the price breaker Tabac Original.
The presentation of this fragrance is peculiar. It comes tightly sealed in a rectangular, semi-transparent, and cheap-looking plastic box the size of a cigarette pack. Strange graphic ornaments in ochre and purple are printed on it. Quite ugly and off-putting. There is no particular statement or style direction to be recognized. They could have just written “Yes” on it, but I believe that brand exists elsewhere…
