A juicy treat.
Up to now, I have actually avoided the high-priced perfumes of this producer. And this, although I have a high regard for Roja's vetiver. But you can overdo it in terms of price.

And then this dog with his perfume colognes came around the corner.
By the way: What is a "Parfum-Cologne"? I have known: Eau de Cologne, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum as well as Parfum. But please what is a Perfume Cologne? "Would he need it now?" the Bavarian would ask
But he got me. The dog. With his vetiver. And since I can hardly get myself together because of all the joy about this perfume Cologne, I was practically forced to give other candidates of this series a chance. And the Elysium wiggled its butt so much that I couldn't get around a sample.

I can imagine, by the way, that I adjust my opinion about this fragrance again in the warm season, because it seems to be made for this time of the year.

And I have also long suspected that there is a drug that encapsulates ingredients only to release them slowly. Nasomatto's "Silver Musk" is such a typical candidate. One sprays, smells almost nothing, only to discover in the course of time that one is wearing a fragrance after all.

And also at Elysium the scent seems suspicious to me. But from the beginning:

At the beginning it is a bit turbulent. A lot of citrus fruit in the top note. And since there is also some smokiness, I am not surprised that attentive observers point to similarities with Aventus.

But then Elysium turns in another direction. I smell a sauna that was used yesterday. Wood mixes with essential oils and cold lava rock. Musk and sweet, red berries give a touch of arbitrary mainstream, but in unusual variety.

Soon the scent settles down and it becomes clear where it is heading: The woody smokiness, the berry sweetness and the light musk are the carpet on which the juiciest and tastiest grapefruit you can imagine is spread. Fresh, bright, transparent, refreshing and very high quality, combined with musk. This is really fun!

And this grapefruit lasts a very long time. This is unusual, because normally these citrus fruits evaporate quickly. They are therefore not really suitable as a base grade. But here the world is upside down and Elysium flows into this brilliant citrus fruit. And therefore I am of the opinion that this scent has been encapsulated somehow. Their actual volatility can be studied well with some other grapefruit scents, whose first sprayer has already evaporated by the third sprayer.

Although the shelf life of this grapefruit is brilliant, its radiance is somewhat restrained at this stage. I can smell myself from time to time, but I don't think that there is still a lot that gets out.

If you want to know my opinion about the Roja prizes, please read my Vetiver commi. (Short summary: grrrrr!!!!) But the scents have class. And Elysium is really beautiful

You decide!
Anyone who loves grapefruit, wants to smell it as authentically as possible and also has a little too much money in their bank account will not be able to avoid two fragrances. I'm talking about "Elysium", the variant as cologne of course - not quite as price-intensive as some other products from the same company, but still painful enough for the account. I'm also talking about "A Midsummer Dream". Please keep in mind that financially, there is even more to it than that. But well ... we're not just talking about money here.

Those who love the Midsummer Night's Dream will also love "Elysium". Both captivate with a wonderfully authentic, beautifully tangy grapefruit. Midsummer Night's Dream complements those with floral components in the form of orange blossom as well as with rounding green notes. However, if you don't like orange blossom - and there are many - and prefer a more transparent, easier-to-wear fragrance instead, take a closer look at the "Elysium" in the blue bottle. Its grapefruit remains omnipresent throughout the fragrance, and after only a short time is underlaid with a berry-metallic, rather cool note, probably due to the currant, which makes a frosted impression on me. If you let a little more time pass and enjoy this cologne, which is not at all weak on the chest, soft cedar wood additionally flatters the nose, which immediately reminds me of a pencil. That was it with the scent, which for me captivates with three notes.

Sparkling tangy grapefruit, underlaid with a metallic foundation and subtle pencil notes versus sparkling tangy grapefruit, underlaid with slightly sweet orange blossom and small green tips? The decision is up to you and possibly your wallet. Happy testing!

God of bergamot
"Elysium", as the most beginner-friendly and still most affordable of all Rojas, is the first bottle of his brand in my collection. And I could also imagine that he remains forever, no matter how great I still find some Roja, because I'm not ready to put almost half a monthly salary in 50 ml "super juice" felt. Unless I eventually reduce my collection by 80% and switch to the motto "Only the best!" or "Quality absolutely before quantity!". But this "Elysium" just had to be already now. Why? Isn't it just a niche, simple and possibly even pompous elitist mixture of Dior's "Sauvage" and "Aventus"? Maybe. But that's not a deal-breaker or a weight on his shoulders for me. And yet, on a very high level, I am minimally disappointed. But first things first, I'll try to get my thoughts in order on this fine luxury specimen...

"Elysium (Parfum Cologne)" is reminiscent of men's bestsellers from the "clean shampoo trend lists" of the last decade. However, in such a natural and with classic, almost a little chyprigem citrus kniff that one remains the spit away and actually prohibit any comparisons. The way "Elysium" builds up and through its citrusy, sparkling and shimmering juniper berry mix is almost justifying its price. Or almost scratches that. "Elysium" is a completely authentic and self-aware evergreen, a millionaire on the tube, an olfactory angel come down to earth. Always delicious. Always juicy. Always high quality to the hilt. And the minimal leathery (!) musky drydown is transparent and simply gorgeous. Overall, "Elysium" is pretty much the perfection of its subject, there's nothing to complain about. So where does the last 10% hang in my rating or the slight "disappointment despite enthusiasm"? Hard to describe. But basically I miss the last kick, the special something, a unique selling point. To the latter, you could call its massive "high quality" and "softness". But I mean just from the notes and scents. My absolute summer favorites like "L'Humaniste" (gin) or "40 Knots" (honey) just have more character and recognition of their own in my mind, in my experience. "Elysium" is "simply" hit perfumery from the drugstore taken to the absolute extreme, in my opinion. Smooth and year-round, beautiful and soothing. Which, of course, you have to create first and is criticism at the very highest level. That it is regularly named in top lists and as a most worn favorite perfume is of zero surprise. I will certainly reach for it often and with relish. It's just too beautiful and too appealing, both to myself and to compliments, as I quickly discovered, to leave it. No matter how expensive it was.

Flacon: 5% kitsch, 95% beauty
Sillage: clearly noticeable, very natural and pleasant, actually perfect.
Longevity: 7-9 hours - great for a citrus fragrance

Conclusion: if high-end niche chums up to the mainstream?! No. And even if: "Elysium" is one of the most universally beautiful citrus fragrances and arguably the most wearable bergamot ever. Mass appeal and anti-migraine haute perfumery at its best. An illuminating appearance

Jean-Baptiste Grenouille
My first review and I know this will seem over the top and probably grotesque to some. But this Elysium deserves it and I have the honor to review it.

My purchase from an online retailer carried a few small scent samples for good measure, including the Roja Elysium. My first spray on the back of my hand, my nose approached and....
and...
.... a miracle had happened before everyone's eyes, the Lord God Himself had fallen into the executioner's arm by revealing the angel.... Jean Baptiste waved the perfect perfume through the air on a cloth, and all fell into a frenzy of glory, unrestrainedly surrendering to this irresistible fragrance...
This was the first thought I had when I smelled this incredible Elysium. "The perfume of Patrick Süskind", the place of execution and mass orgy! Not an Aventus, not a Bleu de Chanel, no a character all its own. A pure fougère with a stunning freshness of citrus notes ( reminded me of a holiday on the Amalfi coast ), the juicy apple and blackcurrant. Plus those harmonious herbs of thyme, lavender and artemesia. Then a little later enters this intensifying musk that is addictive, accompanied by a warm cedar note, everything so perfectly balanced that even at this moment of writing gives me goosebumps with pleasure.

I am truly enchanted!

More noble, more serious and with a higher post: Dad from Aventus
I must honestly say that the perfume does not smell unfamiliar. I am not fit in the perfume area for the gentlemen among us. Nevertheless, it smells old familiar and is thus a crowdpleaser. :)

My first association was: could be the citrus and lavender tinged more serious father from aventus. :)
While aventus scores playfully fruity and definitely youthful with distinct pineapple, elysium remains elegant, more austere and "neater" due to the citrus/lavender notes. It comes across as incredibly clean, classy and grown up! Less playful. (Who likes aventus, the power with elysium nothing wrong!)

Anyway, with the first spray bergamot and lemon come out very well! These are virtually the first notes that spontaneously stand out without knowing the fragrance pyramid.

If I were to summarize head and heart note as a story, then elysium in the head and heart note would be a thyme-lemon-lavender lemonade like you can sometimes order in the summer at well-known restaurant chains on the limited edition menu. Unsweetened of course! For the decoration and garnish, the drink is spiked with a jasmine blossom. The straws are schlServed with ice cubes that have been covered with small peppercorns to give the unsweet drink a bit of a kick. :)

The drydown brings the biggest surprise for me! Elysium is at its very best in the drydown and I can't stop smelling my wrist. So beautiful.
To give the lemonade even more kick, the plastic straw is replaced by a noble and high-quality sturdy straw made of leather. The leather straw brings boozy woody notes (especially benzoin) in the drink. Next Level!
Also, a real bourbon vanilla pod is freshly scraped out and put pure into the drink. A supposed sweetness resonates without the drink was sweetened at all ... the vanilla bourbon bean smells just so to bite and authentic that supposed sweet notes are to be guessed and no cheap added sugar are needed.

I really have to say. Next to lost cherry and aventus, this is one of my TOP favorites for men so far.
It smells sooooo appealing! I get already head hurts because I can not stop to inhale deeply. :D Recommendation to you men!
With elysium man smells clean & well-groomed, noble and successful.
Sexy! :)

I had high expectations. What I got was at best an average scent for summer. At this price I wouldn't recommend it.

In the opening, we get a sparkling grapefruit & juniper berry scent. It's fresh, fruity, light. In the drydown, amber, musk and spicy woods.

This is just ok, but I struggle to see why I would ever spend the money on a bottle of this over something like Bleu De Chanel.

2 sprays and my wife can still smell this on me 10hrs later from 5 feet away. I don’t understand the performance complaints.
