Nomen est Omen; but not here!
How do you picture an inquisitor? Olfactory, I mean? But short of that: I think the Inquisition is known to everyone and has of course not been a glorious chapter for the Catholic Church. There will probably not only be one person accused of heresy and executed. The Middle Ages, a dark time from a European point of view, and make us curious to know how this is now to be implemented as a perfume. So back to the fragrance or rather briefly to the label: I didn't know Solstice Scents before, I don't like everything from the brand but Inquisitor stands out positively
Now one likes Unken that the incense was not to be missing naturally with regard to the background of the name giver. Actually I smell leather first of all rubbed with beeswax. The leather is strong, not rough, but new. By the luxurious rubbing with beeswax Inquisitor takes on the shape of creamy leather, it also smells slightly oily, which I mean positively. Here I have to think of Midnight Stag.
In contrast to this, the oily note persists and is carried by smoking elements. Well, Palo Santo, Labdanum and the like hardly allow another conclusion. I do not perceive fire smoke unless one interprets it like this: this smoky blend is sweetish. This is probably due to the benzoin to which this property is attributed. Actually Sumatra benzoin is supposed to smell like this, I guess Siam benzoin because of its sublime cocoa note. Although it's not that subtle. This chocolate note, which is chocolate with a high cocoa content, enhances the leather and wax melange, Inquisitor gets more character. Great job! Maybe you wanted to smoke this over fire and let this olfactory facet flow into it. It's hard to say, it might be, but the benzoin is too dominant.
For me, Inquisitor is a formidable product, albeit very linear and only weakening. This happens a little bit quickly but all in all it is a nice scent. This is reason enough to deal more with Solstice Scents, the creations I had the chance to get to know so far were all interesting. Not much more happens here. Inquisitor I perceive diametrically to those who were allowed to make the acquaintance with one back then: relaxing, a feel-good scent.
