Sonia Rykiel Sonia Rykiel 1997 Eau de Toilette

My knowledge of Sonia Rykiel’s different fragrances is limited. I have 7e Sens parfum and L’Eau de Sonia Rykiel - and this, by the way - as miniatures. I am not sure that I can rely on them smelling like they should. But I have this as a full bottle as well, so therefore I dare to write a review on this.
I remember being quite fascinated by the bottle when I first saw it. When I smelled it, I wanted to like it. And because of the Cardamom note I did. For quite a few years. But the more times I wore it, the more attention I gave to the bitterness that appears soon after spraying. The fragrance is not as sweet as first detected. I have come to the conclusion that it is the mix between Cardamom, Black currant, Mandarin orange and Pineapple that annoys my nose. And now I cannot un-smell it. Sad but true. It lasts quite long and sillage is good. But I do not like to wear it anymore. Conclusion: the smell is ok - just not for me.
The bottle is still nice, though. A fresh take on how fragrance bottles can look.

No one could accuse this of being serious.
It's an orangey syrup, with pineapple, and a plasticky nuance.
And after that it gets powdery sweet and reassuring.

But it's not some brainless gourmand.
Underneath, there's choco-vanilla-patchouli, which is woody - as much as foody.

Sure, it's derivative - a bit like orange Angel, but it's a great comfort blanket, and I like to wear it on cold autumn days when I want to feel uplifted.

Many of Sonia Rykiel's perfumes feature fruit in the composition, and this one is no exception. It's almost edible, a bit gourmand, with pineapple and vanilla and such. I I like it for daytime; it has a casual air. Nice when you are wearing jeans, boots, a sweater and a leather jacket. Spritz yourself, don a beret, and you're good to go.

Sonia Rykiel was previously only known to me as a designer of knitwear.
I only learned that she also commissioned fragrances through the collection of an acquaintance who owns two perfumes by Sonia. One is "Septiene Sens," which has made it onto my wish list, and the very one described here, which has a "T-shirt" as a bottle. She sold it to me at a good price....
Personally, I perceive the EdT as less fruity, although I can slightly detect the blackcurrant, which is almost immediately enveloped by spicy as well as dark green-tinged floral notes.
Here, the scent becomes full and almost "fluffy" and warm.
And yet, "Sonia Rykiel EdT" conveys an airy lightness. At no point is it "heavy and burdensome."
Rather, it is carried by beautiful, slightly earthy-woody scent elements, warm cinnamon notes, and only very gently ventures into the "gourmand" territory, somewhat "caramel-like."
Normally, I don't like such scent notes, but here I don't find them "disturbing," as they seamlessly integrate into the beautiful "base" of the fragrance.
If I were to give this EdT a "characteristic," I would call it "freedom-loving."
It "puffs" gently in an olfactory sense, but does not overwhelm; instead, it "flutters lightly and warmly" around the wearer. It is subtly perceptible for a long time.
