I discovered O Hira through the sample set for the 777 line, which includes 7 fragrances from this collection. A great brand and, of course, a great collection too. To be honest, O Hira appealed to me the least, although it wasn't bad enough that I didn't like it. However, it's not the easiest fragrance to wear, and it can be a bit polarizing, so it won't appeal to everyone. It's more of a mystical fragrance that is very well executed olfactorily and will appeal especially to fans of niche fragrances. When it comes to crowd-pleasing scents, it's not exactly a milestone. The fragrance has a hefty retail price of €435 for 50 ml, which is certainly also due to the expensive raw materials and high-quality oils. They used very fine resins here, which smell truly wonderful and, of course, are simply expensive and smell that way too. I find the fragrance challenging, and it's good for people who want to stand out.
The packaging and bottle are consistent across the 777 line. A really beautiful bottle, complete with a lovely cap. I like it, and it's a great addition to any collection.
O Hira is definitely a fragrance that can smell extremely unusual to newcomers to the world of perfume. It's certainly not a DNA you'll find in the mainstream. A clear plus if you want to stand out and wear something special. Smoky, resinous notes dominate this fragrance, turned up loud from the very beginning. It's certainly original, but not the easiest to enjoy. The Styrax note is responsible for the smoky quality and has a slightly mystical feel. There are also earthy notes that smell quite dry. A fragrance that is above all artistic, rather than too much like perfume. Incense notes also play a part in this creation, becoming significantly milder as it develops. After 1-2 hours, the fragrance also becomes somewhat mineral and salty, which you might not expect from its development. This softens the intense smokiness somewhat and makes the fragrance a little gentler. The drydown also brings a sense of calm, with a gentle spiciness, woody vanilla, and the brand's signature balsamic amber note. I like the fragrance much more as it wears on, also because the later hours are easier to wear than the polarizing opening. Being polarizing isn't inherently bad, but this one goes a little too far. Overall, though, it's a beautiful fragrance that gives you a sense of its high price.
The performance is, of course, really good, as you'd expect with these notes and at almost €500/50 ml. Longevity approaches 20 hours, with really strong sillage (especially during the first few hours).
Overall, a great fragrance that's not suited to small rooms. I see it as more of an outdoor scent, and its darker notes are better suited to the cooler, darker time of year. Not a fragrance that really grabs me, but still a wonderful olfactory experience, especially in how artistically it's executed.
I remember it fondly.
