Hello everyone, welcome to my new fragrance commentary!
Oh yes… my title refers to Asterix. More specifically to Asterix conquers Rome! I mean the great animated film; I never really watched the live-action movies, and to be honest, I’m not really interested in them either. Anyway, there’s a scene in this Asterix animated film where a wizard named Iris tries to hypnotize Asterix (and before him, he also enchants another “patient” who then thinks he’s a bird).
His words “By Osiris, look at me. Look at me very closely. You are now a wild boar!” never left my mind because I found it just funny. And now that this fragrance here is called “Osiris” by Sylvaine Delacourte, I had to think of it again :)
At this point, I want to thank Zimtschnecke for this traveling package, which has brought us these fragrances :D
Well… I’ll start sniffing right away. It’s a shame you can’t hypnotize people in reality like in Asterix, right? Let’s try: By Osiris, look at me. Look at me very closely! You want to walk around only in bikinis and underwear from now on! … does it work? … no, of course not… And yes, this is a Don Juan De Cat - commentary, so it was clear that at least a little bit of suggestiveness would come up, right? That means you know what you’ve signed up for when reading this commentary, so keep reading and put down the pitchforks… (where did you even get those pitchforks?? Tsss….) :D
The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts with fresh neroli, light floral notes, and a scent of orange/mandarin. There’s something sweet to it, although it’s not exactly identifiable yet, and I would guess more towards a mix of honey and jasmine.
A little later, the floral scents fade a bit. The honey becomes more intense and thus more noticeable. But now you can also distinguish the jasmine better from the honey. Neroli remains present, and now softer fragrance notes like benzoin come in, which make the scent creamy, especially with the neroli.
As the scent develops further, the neroli becomes a bit more intense, making the fragrance feel heavier. The sweet notes remain, of course, although the honey seems to mix again with the jasmine, which is not a bad thing since both smell good anyway. The benzoin continues to enhance the creamy feeling of the fragrance, so that despite its heavy projection, it somehow comes across as gentle on the skin.
In the base, the heaviness of the fragrance diminishes a bit, probably because the neroli now projects a little less. The sweet notes are also slightly weaker now, but I have the feeling that it comes across as a bit more floral again, which makes the scent slightly stuffy for me, but you know me, I always complain a bit about floral fragrances,… so it could very well be that you like the scent much better :)
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is good, but not outstanding. From a distance, it probably won’t be perceived very well, but up close, it should be noticeable for a while. The longevity was quite good, as the fragrance lasted on me from morning until evening, so the usual eight to ten hours.
The Bottle:
The bottle is a slightly bulbous container with a thick base and is filled with a yellowish fragrance liquid. On the front, there’s a black-and-white label with the name of the fragrance and a plant drawing. It’s great that this drawing is individually designed for each fragrance and looks nice; in style, it’s somewhat comparable to the labels from Diptyque. The cap is gold-plated, cylindrical, and seems to be made of brushed metal. A somewhat simple-looking but still beautiful bottle.
Conclusion:
So, I didn’t find the fragrance bad. At first, I was worried it might become a stuffy-heavy scent since the initial floral notes came across as a bit cloying, but luckily it didn’t develop that way. Sure, the fragrance is quite heavy, but I don’t find it stuffy or overly cloying. Of course, it’s not a fresh scent and, in my opinion, belongs to winter, but there are fragrances that really take your breath away, or at least that’s how it feels to me, especially with some floral women’s fragrances (and yet I test so many women’s fragrances, just for you bikini babes… uh… I mean, it should be for you ladies…!).
In any case, this fragrance here is quite nice, but you really have to like and be able to handle an intense neroli scent to enjoy this fragrance; otherwise, it’s absolutely not for you. It’s more suitable for the evening since it comes across as a bit too opulent for everyday wear.
As for the target audience, I would lean more towards older women,… um… mature women… adult women? Bah, whatever I say is probably wrong… I’d rather say that the fragrance is not for twenty-year-old young girls, so maybe more for those around 30 and up?… uff… :D
Anyway, you can definitely test the fragrance, especially if you like neroli. And that’s it for now! I hope you have a lovely evening, so see you next time :)
