The Body Shop

When Dame Anita Roddick founded "The Body Shop" in Brighton, England in 1976, she had no idea how big this label would become after just a few decades. Dame Roddick wanted to create something positive, make the world a more beautiful place, and protect the planet as much as possible. She also wanted to provide a natural counterpoint to the emerging artificial beauty industry.
In the first store of "The Body Shop" in Brighton, the clientele initially received general products such as soap, lotion, and shampoo. Over the years, more special articles for individual body areas were added. The label now sells makeup, beauty, and care products for the body, hair, and face. In addition, perfumes, as well as fragrance and room sprays, are also offered. In addition to natural substances, the label also relies on vegan ingredients for its aromas.
The Body Shop embodies a strong commitment to various social causes. These include, for example, equal rights and the empowerment of girls and women. Cooperation with "Greenpeace" and the renunciation of all animal testing is also part of its philosophy.
In spring 2006, the label, which was listed on the stock exchange in 1984, was sold to the cosmetics group L'Oréal. Under the direction of L'Oréal, direct sales of the products initially stepped up but were discontinued in 2008. Since 2017, "The Body Shop" has belonged to the Brazilian "Natura" Group.
