Pff…
I'm just sitting here (well, while I'm typing this, which has probably long happened by the time you read this :D) and wondering when my internet will be back up. There’s been an outage with Vodafone for two days now, but there’s no explanation anywhere. No wonder that the people affected are throwing around some pretty unkind words to vent their frustration,… and yes… it's slowly getting on my nerves too *sigh*
Especially when I see the red LEDs of my router blinking ominously… (and yes, I'm publishing this comment from my phone, at least that still works,…).
I'm glad I still have a few samples to at least pass the time while I reach into the sample box and pull out a scent. And when I pull out a Tom Ford and am reminded of fragrances like Black Orchid, I think that the day can't get any worse… :DD
But let's see, Azure Lime sounds quite nice just from the name. Lime does sound citrusy-summery, so fresh and presumably fragrant!
Hmpf… I just see that this sample was also sealed with tape on the cap,… now I have to get this thing open… so much for the day not getting worse :D
The scent:
The scent starts off with a slightly classic aroma (like a barbershop, as it’s sometimes referred to here). It smells of lemon or lime and is quite aquatic. The mint is refreshingly nice and smells good, complemented by basil, which pairs well with the citrusy and fresh notes.
A little later, the scent becomes slightly sweeter, but really only a little, as it mainly remains aquatically fresh. This sweetness could come from the violets. There’s also a hint of neroli, but otherwise I can hardly make out the rest of the heart notes (that is, the fragrance notes in the fragrance pyramid). In the background, I somehow perceive light, green notes.
In the base, oak moss is listed, and now I understand why the scent seemed to me like a classic men's fragrance; it was the well-known combination of bergamot/lemon with oak moss (especially since the moss is already fragrant at the beginning). The sweetness becomes a bit stronger, and you can now also smell tonka bean, but it doesn’t last even an hour, so the scent in the later base hardly smells sweet, but rather just aquatic and citrusy.
Overall, it’s quite okay, but not really great.
The sillage and longevity:
The projection is enough to refresh oneself and perceive the scent somewhat, but others need to come a bit closer over time.
The longevity is about five to six hours, after which the scent is almost gone.
The bottle:
The scent comes in the well-known rectangular bottles that somewhat resemble columns. However, considering that the scent is translated as Sky Blue Lime, the bottle could also have been blue or turquoise like most of the fresh Tom Ford fragrances instead of being black. It still looks good, as I personally like the design of the bottles.
Azure Lime is nicely made, but it also doesn't smell like anything special and is furthermore not particularly strong (which is the case with all citrus scents). If someone wants a little refreshment, this scent can certainly do well, but there are many citrus fragrances that smell much better and are significantly cheaper.
To be honest, Azure Lime is not bad, but I find fragrances (by Tom Ford) like Neroli Portofino or especially Mandarino di Amalfi to be much better crafted, so I would recommend those scents over this one.
The strength of this scent is merely that it sometimes smells like classic men's fragrances, if that’s what you’re into. The other two mentioned fragrances do not have this classic approach with oak moss. Oh, and the scent also lasts a bit better.
Soo… the day is almost over, my internet still isn’t working, and the fragrances I tested today weren’t exactly stellar… a rather disappointing day overall *sigh* … the rain that has made everything nice and wet fits perfectly with that. All that’s missing is for my cat to get diarrhea, argh… :D
I wish everyone a nice weekend… however, there will be new comments from me tomorrow as usual… because I’ve probably become a nuisance here *waaaaaaah* :DD
