One of the most beautiful mandarins I have ever smelled.
The beginning is juicy, perfectly acidic and laced with hints of currant leaves - natural, green leaves infused with sugar and chlorophyll, not chemical mutants straight out of Lacoste Essential. These leaves aren't literal either, because if it weren't for the list of notes, I probably wouldn't have guessed their presence right away. Their scent is slightly shifted towards mint and green freshness, and the dusty nuances have been completely wiped away.
Tom Ford again shows that he can play with citrus brilliantly. This is the third fragrance (after Neroli Portofino and Rive d'Ambre) in this climate that knocks me out. It's not some over-complicated fragrance and doesn't develop on the skin in a surprising way. But the upside is that Ford has kept a moment in Mandarino di Amalfi. This moment is dedicated to the tangerine. And it is wonderful!
To be a little more reliable, however, I will write that later, after an hour or two, the tangerine slowly transforms into orange. The green note, on the other hand, loses its organic and tart overtones. It becomes a little more dull, woodsy, mossy even. A delicate touch of vetiver appears. But this is a minor detail that I noticed after using this perfume several times.
The scent is best described in three words: ‘the green kingdom of tangerine’. Simple, brilliant and sincere. Highly recommended!
