It Oozes Trivia Yet Smells Good
UR for Men is Usher Raymond's second perfume to add to my collection, after Usher He Eau de Toilette. Nowadays, it is a budget cologne, and the 100ml costs me around €15. It is softer and smoother and has just enough lightness to beckon you, and is powerful enough to hold on once it's got you, still not as strong as a regular Usher. Intrigued by most negative reviews, I wanted to order it and try it on my skin. Is it as horrible as they describe it? Let's check it out together.
UR for Men is much more aromatic than fruity, and what's there is just enough to sweeten the concoction and keep it from being too intense. The opening is a beautiful, fresh, and fruity accord with a melon vibe. The introduction is excellent, similar to peach and boozy vodka, with a synthetic smell but not chemical or aggressive. There is instantly a breath of a sea breeze in the background, just a hint of citrus bergamot and a touch of green apple. The aquatic accord remains throughout the life of the fragrance. Overall, it's a very soft and clean smell, but I wouldn't call it soapy, rather breezy. The opening has a citrus edge that cuts through the other notes. It could undoubtedly be tricky for some people.
For a short time, I get something mentholated, green, aromatic similar to freshly picked parsley, very pleasant and relaxing that adds a herbaceous tinge. It could be harsh mugwort mixed with basil leaves, bay leaves, and fresh violet leaves. The heart is more than herbaceous; the sweetness of nutmeg soon joins. Hence, the intermediate stage remains aquatic but more watery than salty. The addition of these green notes makes the sensation on the dominant spicy and woody base lighter and refreshing.
A warm green, neither too herbaceous nor too spicy, caresses you just as sweetly; it gently kisses your skin. It twists into a predominantly pungent and woody smell with a bit of laundry moss in the base. The woody base contains guaiac, sandalwood, and cashmere - a trio with gentle strength and a hint of exotic forest and earthy depth. To me, this is worth a lot more than what I paid for it. The ultimate stage is softer and smoother and has enough light to call you, and is firm enough to hold out once it has caught you.
This stuff is cheap and light enough that I could never see it offend anyone unless said person immersed himself in it. I get half a day of longevity on my clothes, and the sillage is actually below average. It's harmless enough to serve perfectly for business or casual business and cool enough to suit the spring and summer seasons, hotter weather anyhow. I firmly believe that if anyone says this smells bad, they either haven't heard it or have a fake. I got some compliments the first time I wore it, very sweet but not overly. The bottle has a nice dull silver colour, looks sturdy and masculine. The metal cap is also lovely. I wish it would last a little longer, but for the value, it's a must-have.
I based the review on a 100ml bottle I have owned since July 2021.
