I keep on falling in and out…..

….of love with you…..

Today - very current - I am again "highly in love" with Volkamaria……tomorrow, however, that could look quite different :-D…...but, as they say: Live in the moment..!!

And the moment says: What a beautiful fragrance…!!

Volkamaria starts wonderfully spritzy-citrusy…....with delightful bitter bergamot and fine, unsweet mandarin…..

The transition to the heart note happens surprisingly quickly and quite immediately……from the citrus freshness, a soft-powdery, velvety-white iris emerges in no time at all …..flanked by moderately sweet heliotrope……

A little bit of the initial bitter citrus still lingers in the background……and that’s a good thing…….without this "fresh" counterbalance, the fragrance could easily risk losing itself in heavy tonka sweetness……..however, it is excellently balanced and doesn’t come too close to a "sweet hater" like me……..

My personal little stumbling block - so to speak, the "falling out moment" - is again the rose, which I almost always perceive as sour-fruity…….but it is - as I said - just a small and very "personal" stumbling block…..especially since this rose episode is only a brief sequence in the fragrance experience…….

From here, Volkamaria becomes wonderfully soft, gentle, light-creamy, and musky-fluffy……and - very importantly!! - despite tonka and heliotrope, it still smells fresh, light, and elegantly maintained…..

The longevity is surprisingly good…..which I will just attribute to some artificial molecule on a hunch (possibly musk) …….luckily, in this case, it’s one that doesn’t make me recoil in horror ;-))……

That sounds good, but I'm currently done with any testing.

Wiener Blut can definitely be powdery, and there are scents that actually smell different on some days.

Oh, the back and forth with some fragrances can be quite exhausting... I experienced that with Djélem; the clove really got to me... and on some days, it has the most beautiful amber scent...

Great review... honest and authentic.
I really like that... There are actually scents like this... one day you can't get enough of it, and the next day you can't stand it... or something just bothers you. But Wiener Blut really has some amazing stuff in their lineup. Like the Unheimlich... :@)).
And this Volkamaria must be interesting too...

Ooh, that sounds lovely, especially since the rose attracts me more than it repels me :)

As a rose lover, I’m definitely intrigued; I probably haven't given this brand the attention it deserves...!

I've never liked rose hip tea... this probably won't work if it smells like this.

The rose in Volkamaria is basically as **Seerose** described it below... more watery-fruity-tart and a bit reminiscent of rose hip tea...

I really like the label. At least, no one I've met from them has disappointed me yet. And the scent sounds very promising too!

It does stand out a bit from the others... in a certain way, it's sweeter and definitely more feminine...

I didn't even know until recently that "Volkermaria" - that's its real name - is a plant. :-D

I also think the scent sounds really nice and is definitely worth a try for me. :) I always need a counterbalance for heliotrope & co.

Oh, roses don’t always have to be a drawback. The scent sounds lovely. I might actually like it.

Aha, so this is what Volkamaria smells like. I had a sample once, but I didn't make a statement about it. I have exactly the same issues with rose; it needs to be rich in perfumes (I don't want to smell like that), or combined with incense, oud, or oakmoss for me to perceive it as rose. Otherwise, it's often just like Rose Ikebana from Hermès, which reminds me of rose hip tea/youth hostel tea, something I've always found terrible. Just sour fruits, really.

Yes, exactly..!! Rose hip tea..!! And I totally agree with you about the Hermès roses…!! One rose that I really liked was BASMATI ROSE by Sultan Pasha :-)…
