Avalon - Lady of the Lake Wild Hybrid

Opens with cloudy pear juice, light musk, and an indeterminate pale floral. There’s a vaguely watercolour aspect but I would stop short of calling it an aquatic fragrance at this point, and I’ll be honest: I’m a bit disappointed. I’m not a huge fan of fruity scents, and while the pear is pretty enough it’s also somewhat ‘Bath & Body Works fragrance spray’ adjacent.
 
After about 2 hours there’s an abrupt shift to a wet, slightly earthy green with a light metallic edge: the distinct smell of pulling up handfuls of weeds from the winter creek that ran through the property where I grew up.

The pear still hovers around the edges but it’s now strictly a supporting player that softens the green and earthy aspects. This is where the fragrance sits for the rest of the wear, and now I’m all in.
 
In the end this was a tough one to rate because I felt very differently about it at the beginning and end of the wear. I’d have rated it higher if the aquatic plants started earlier, but as it is this isn’t full bottle worthy for me. 
 
Projection is low (particularly after the pear fades), but like all of the Wild Hybrid oils I’ve tried so far, longevity solid at 6-8 hours. Gender is orchard naiad.
