Zafar Xerjoff 2012

Zafar starts with a strong medicinal scent. Then, more and more, a woody, earthy note comes through, with something leathery and floral developing as it progresses. I later thought I detected a violet scent, which surprised me greatly. Up to this point, I was thrilled with Zafar; unfortunately, the shimmering impression of the fragrance quickly faded. Due to the small sample, I only applied one drop, which may have skewed the test a bit. I smelled vetiver from beginning to end, which pairs very well with oud. However, I had the impression that the vetiver overshadowed everything else significantly. Overall, I find Zafar to be a well-crafted oud perfume.
