Bright, Sparkling Rose
I tell you, I am deeply in love and at the same time feel a bit slapped in the face.
Such a bright, sparkling fresh rose has been waiting for me in this simple, plain bottle? I had no idea it would be this good. For me, it’s miles better than Eau Rose Eau de Parfum and what you can find in the upper cake layer.
If you’re looking for a beautiful summery rose scent, without any frills in presentation, without a particularly artistically pretentious bottle, then here it is. A perfume, and that’s what you want, it’s all about the liquid. I find this simplicity very appealing and stylish, from the scent to the packaging and Yardley advertising, but some place value on luxurious presentation, it should be an experience, which you won’t get here. Although, isn’t the bottle quite elegant and chic? The cap holds well and the bottle fits nicely in small women’s hands.
As for this rose, it sits exactly between Tea Rose Eau de Toilette and perhaps Rose Pétale Eau de Toilette. A bit heavier than the latter, much brighter and more wearable than the former, but has well imitated its vibe (I found tea rose too yeasty, too... almost room spray).
English Rose smells as if I am strolling through a rose garden very early in the morning, when the air is still cool. No bees are buzzing yet, everything around is quiet and the roses feel a bit cold to the touch. I stroll in my sandals on the grass, among these pink climbing roses of old varieties, and drink a refreshing vitamin water, that is water with cucumber slices, an ice cube, and whatever berry stuff I found in the fridge. The grass tickles my toes and at the same time gives me a feeling of connection to the earth, to nature.
I have now adopted this scent and will definitely repurchase it. I spray and spray, pfft pfft pfft pfft pfftttt pft because it feels sooo good. So fine, so delicate, so simple and refreshing. Almost a little mineral, the scent. English rose medium sparkling water could be its name, if it didn’t sound so silly :).
I find it not old-fashioned at all, not boring at all. I am now very curious about the other fragrances from this company. Yardley is cruelty-free, it said on the packaging. This intensifies the feeling of happiness that this wonderful scent has given me for many hours.
Could it be too simple for some? But please, with these names you’re not looking for complex, beast mode perfumes. What it says on the label, that’s what you get.
As for the scent development, the scent just becomes weaker. I haven’t noticed more than that. From start to finish, rose. Very floral, radiant, and light-footed with just a hint of blackberry (more like currant). Minimal woodiness. Best in summer and heat. Also nice before sleeping for refreshment and relaxation.

Especially in everyday life, I often just want to wear a nice scent and enjoy it as it is. I don't need a "twist" every hour.
I don't understand why some people find rose scents old-fashioned. But I usually lean towards classic fragrances, so I guess I'm not the best judge :-D
