A really beautiful but ultimately weak fragrance

It's time for another vintage miniature. Today I'm testing the Pivoine. I really like the scent, but unfortunately the sillage is quite weak. After 2 to 3 hours, the scent becomes quite skin-deep and after 5 to 6 hours, I don't notice much more.

The top note smells decidedly fruity and fresh like tangerines and grape sugar in the flavor of oranges. The heart note smells beautifully floral of freesia and peony. The base remains sweet, floral, slightly green and somewhat soapy with aromas of lily of the valley and garden carnations. There are also slightly creamy notes.

The scent is not particularly complex, but I still think it's nice. The miniature can stay in my collection for now :-)

Lovely peony

For ten years I had a rather big garden with a huge variety of perrenials, bushes and trees. I knew and loved every plant but I did have a few favourites: the roses, especially the bush roses and the climbers, the different types of lavender and the peonies. Roses and lavender had this wonderful smell whereas I mostly loved the peonies for their amazing colours and overwhelming size of flowers. Peonies only flower for a short time but they are amazing when they do.
Wearing Pivoine makes me happy. It is such a beautiful perfume, delicate, modest and with a private feeling to it. It is a mix of flowers and mandarin orange, one of my favourite citric notes, though this note is not very obvious in the fragrance. If I should use one word describing this scent it would be: romantic. It has a similar aura as Cacharel’s Anaïs Anaïs, eventhough they only have lily-of-the-valley and carnation in common and Pivoine is much simpler than the other. But there is a similarity of some sort.
Pivoine is not a longlasting scent and it has the same expression through the whole journey. To some that would be too boring, but I love wearing it in the morning when not having plans, because if something shows up I can easily wash off and spray on something else.
