Not for me
I’m not a huge fan of the other Libre perfumes as they largely lean overly sweet, heavy, and cloying to my nose. I thought the fruity notes and coconut cream would help lighten things up, but, alas.

The raspberry is not light and fruity, but rather deeply sweet and rich like raspberry wine or balsamic glaze. The coconut cream is imperceptible and the classic Libre DNA shines through in the heart and base notes. It still feels cloying and a little too mature for my personal taste.

If you generally enjoy Libre and its flankers, you will probably like this perfume as well. If you’re like me and haven’t previously enjoyed the Libre line, this flanker is not likely to change that for you.

The Legacy of the Family Dynasty
The Libre perfumes by Yves Saint Laurent have been among the successful fragrance lines for years. The Libre Eau de Parfum Intense is currently listed at number 14 among the all-time favorite women's perfumes, the Libre Le Parfum shines with a 8.4 perfume rating, and the Libre Vanille Couture swept the last Christmas sales and is now almost mentioned in the same breath as the great Guerlain vanilla scents. I also like the series and am a proud owner of four Libre fragrances in my perfume collection.

Now there is a new family member in the direct line of the successful family tree at YSL. A young lady, fruity, playful, and sweet with the melodious name: Berry Crush. And just like with well-known royal families, the paparazzi rush to the young princesses as soon as they are introduced to the public. It’s similar here: everyone wants to get to know the young lady Berry Crush, and as I write these lines, there are currently six active sharings just for this fragrance in the Souk. That’s how I got my decant as well.

But now finally to the fragrance itself. The young lady has arrived. Since I generally trust the Libre series, I sprayed the fragrance directly on my wrist. “Fruity, sweet, and girly” is the first impression. The typical Libre orange can be quickly detected, making it clear from which family this child comes.

In the fragrance pyramid, I had read something about coconut, but I can't distinctly identify it on my skin. Overall, the scent feels softer, lighter, and less edgy than its big sisters. It is definitely more playful, almost youthful, sweeter, and thus more girly than expected. It will definitely find its fan base.

As I mentioned in my introduction, big family names bring a certain expectation for the fan base, and Berry Crush does not live up to that. You just have to categorize it correctly. Berry Crush is not a statement fragrance and not an icon, but a summery light, fruity all-rounder. However, there are already many of those, almost too many, and now there’s even one more.

Ysl why?
Disappointing. The same DNA pattern over and over again, nothing stands out, especially not for this price and the promising appearance. The coconut cream is 0.0 perceivable. Instead, as always, the orange blossom dominates, which is just becoming annoying. Overall interchangeable, uninspired, and not living up to the hype. Please don’t chase any trends.

Really, another Libre?
Really, another new flanker. That was actually my first thought when I saw it among the new releases.
I find Libre quite okay, but I've smelled it too many times now and it hasn't stirred anything in me for a long time.

But this variant somehow caught my attention, raspberry? I think that's nice for spring. Coconut? Sounds somewhat tempting. Summery. Light. Fruity. That's apparently the trend for 2026, so YSL has to jump on that bandwagon too.

My second thought was, I have to test this. This could be something really good. Now that spring is just around the corner, perfect!

I had a 5 ml sample and wore it every day for a week, and here’s my impression:
Raspberry? Coconut? In vain! Not even a hint. I smell something synthetic berry-like. But I wouldn't describe it as particularly fruity. It dissipates as soon as I inhale.
Just like my dreams of getting a great fruity coconut scent.

It smells like the regular Libre, a bit sweeter, a bit lighter. Not quite as dense. Quite disappointing for such great fragrance notes.

The die-hard Libre community will surely recognize the difference. The minimal difference for the rest of us is that there really is no difference at all.

And all that remains is Libre. In a beautiful red form, which could have been so lovely.

The idea was good, but the execution was sought in vain.

Conclusion: you can wear it, but if you have the regular Libre, that's completely sufficient. Here you get nothing groundbreaking, no wow moment, and no spring feeling.

And the moral of the story is, don't trust the fragrance pyramid.

But as always, at the end of the day, wear what you like.

Average can be so beautiful
And the moral of the story is, don't believe the bad reviews on Parfumo. Or should you?

What do 212 Sexy & La Bomba by Carolina Herrera, Scandal by JPG, and Loverdose by Diesel have in common? They all score between 6.7 and 6.9. That's just average, but I love them all, especially 212 (it's been one of my signature perfumes for years).
So, average doesn't always have to be bad. Maybe I'm just easily impressed by average perfumes, but I don't care, I wear what I like.

And now Berry Crush joins the ranks.
The raspberry with coconut is so lovely, with the raspberry standing out clearly. In the drydown, the orange blossom does dominate, but I like it. After all, it's Libre and not a new scent. The orange blossom and lavender are the trademarks.

After the heavy but also beautiful Libre intense, Vanille Couture, and Le Parfum, it's time for a fresh and sweet Libre.

I'm already looking forward to spring, but I enjoy wearing it very much right now.

For everyone who loves Flowers & Flames, you should definitely try this alternative. Both belong to the fresh and sweet versions.

A fruity Libre, lighter, younger, with a soapy note from orange blossom. I don’t perceive coconut cream.

Another mishmash of a new classic with a trend. Some berry note that I really need to skip.

A zesty yet softer Libre. Not as sharp as the original and less warm than Intense and Le Parfum. I like it!

Sweet-fruity start with red fruits without raspberry/coconut, beautiful orange blossom, fruity-vanilla base. Most everyday-friendly Libre.

Fruity, delicious. On my skin, very sweet and much sweeter than the others in the line. For me, the best Libre. No bitter note.

10 minutes of velvety-fresh strawberries, then Libre with a bit less lavender. It's quite well-rounded, but did we really need this flanker?

And the all-in-one continues to be milked. A bit fruitier but of course with the already known Libre DNA. Boring.

Short and sweet: 90% Libre with about 10% berries. That's it.
