National Strawberry Sundae Day
Everyone loves everything to do with ice cream, and when it’s hot, it’s the first cool thing we can think we have. In the United States, there are many holidays marked as an honor for different food items, and people celebrate each one with love. On July 7, the people of the United States celebrate National Strawberry Sundae Day, and it is a viral day. On this day, people go all out and create a variety of vanilla ice creams and sundaes with strawberry sauce, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream. Well, I must be crazy! Yes, because I, who have always hated perfumes that are too sweet and cloying, have bought two perfumes from Zara that border on opulence regarding the gourmand, sugary, and honeyed aspect. I’m talking about two fragrances available in the women’s department, relaunched with a new look: Frosted Cream and Fabulous Sweet. Already the name is a saying, let alone the aroma. If you are passionate about vanilla, powdery, greedy nuances and are rich in red fruits and creams, these two perfumes are for you. Believe me when I say that Frosted Cream likens a Strawberry Sundae!
Frosted cream announces itself with sweet citrus notes. There is nothing sour or acid but a slight hint of mandarine orange accompanied by smoky and dark nuances. One immediately feels that coumarins and musks form the spine of the fragrance, with some citrusy and lemony undertone. It starts a little too sweet, a little syrupy from the sweet fruit, particularly strawberry. Just for a moment, I get the slight licorice and medicinal accord. There is a crispness about the mandarine orange note, and I find it to be relatively fresh, even though it’s sweet at the same time.
A solid sweet opening, then settles down to a fruity smell with a hint of floral. Let the scent slowly warm up with the warmth of your skin, and a bouquet of white and pink flowers rises. Freesia and peony come to life and add an impalpable delicacy. But I cannot spot the strawberry note, not isolated. If it is there, then it is very subtle. The florals make it slightly too feminine and lush.
The dry-down slowly becomes creamier, and it is all about a white cloud of vanilla musk with a creamy and light texture. Musky, with a pinch of creamy florals and fruit. This potion smells like frosted cream, really! There’s a clean, powdery musk that’s beautiful and inoffensive. And, there’s also the perfect touch of creaminess without it being over the top, and, of course, you get the flowers.
This is definitely a gourmand scent to be worn during the daytime. I notice more of the vanilla in the top notes, then it’s mostly a clean musk laundry scent with some watery sweet florals. Non-offensive, office-friendly, close to the skin, very cozy with a much shorter staying power. This is a good option when you just feel like having a delicate powdery cloud envelop you. It sits close to the skin, but you will smell this all day with movement. It smells like being surrounded by crisp cotton sheets and plush pillows on a lazy Sunday morning when you don’t feel like getting out of bed. Or a relaxing night in a sumptuous hotel as you unwind in their complimentary bathrobes after a hot shower. Suitable for middle warmer seasons. It lasts quite a few hours on me and becomes more of a personal skin scent after. Still, it lasts longer on your clothes. If you’re a gourmand lover, def check this one out!
