It all started in 2016 when Jérome Epinette signed the first
Vibrant Leather Eau de Toilette. Zara has conquered the designer fragrance industry as well. Prevailing versions of Zara are more serious, trendy, and reasonably priced, featuring great perfumers such as Nathalie Lorson, Alberto Morillas, Isaac Sinclair, and Jérome Epinette, just to mention a few. The latter is a perfumer known for his creations for niche houses such as Atelier Cologne, Byredo, LM Parfums, and Frapin. At the first sniff, I can perceive that Vibrant Leather has its model in "Aventus (Eau de Parfum) | Creed". Though, I don't consider that Zara cologne another Aventus clone. Vibrant Leather has its own story, inspired by the stellar Creed fragrance.
Today I would like to introduce you to Vibrant Leather Bogoss, a spin-off of the original. The nous "Bogoss" comes from the French expression "Beau Gosse," which means "Good-looking guy" or "Handsome guy." The box's description states, "the first Vibrant leather for the younger—le benjamin," and the sparkling scent truly means it. The cologne spins around a juicy pineapple aroma. Once known as the fruit of kings, pineapples were historically only available to natives of the tropics and wealthy Europeans. After pineapples spread throughout South and Central America, Columbus called the fruit piña when he found it in 1493 because he thought it looked like a pinecone, from which he derived its name. Pineapple is one of those fruits that just reminds you of all things tropical. Ripe pineapple is delightful and fruity, tasting something like a marriage of citrus and apple. There's a tang to pineapple that may be relatively absent from the ripest fruit and bolder in less ripe pineapples. It's like the tang of orange, zesty and bright. The scent of well-ripened pineapple is sweet, slightly metallic, and aromatic.
About the fragrance, Vibrant Leather Bogoss by Zara is a woody and aromatic fragrance that features keynotes of sour lemon, luscious pineapple, and base notes are Cedar and Leather. When the juice splashes on my skin, I get a blast of citrus and fruity accord, exquisite, soft, and natural. The combination of sour lemon with fresh pineapple pulp is mind-boggling. I smell sweet, juicy pineapple, like sliced, syrupy fruit found in cans. It's a ripe fruit with caramelized touches. Anyone who has been to a Brazilian restaurant will see a solid resemblance to piña Asada or BBQ grilled pineapple with brown sugar.
If you pay attention, you will hear an aromatic note of lavender in the background, which appears a few seconds after application when the explosion of the pineapple subsides a little.
I do not perceive the Leather in Bogoss. The leather accord is very soft, and it reminds me of suede. For my nose, Iso E Super could be responsible for this leather mirage. Again, after an hour or two, my nose finds Vibrant Leather Bogoss very woody and very likable. The final part is all about pencil shavings dry redolence.
Now the most challenging part. I found Vibrant Leather underperforming, but my friends and people around me complimented me several hours after application. They describe the lovely perfume puffs. I believe this perfume triggers the wearer's olfactory fatigue. If you are a fan of Creed Aventus and want a fruiter and cheaper alternative with even more attractive parts of it, Vibrant Leather Bogoss is a superb choice. Sure, Zara isn't that powerful, the layers aren't distinctive, and the whole creation is blurry, but you're going to get a solid scent with huge compliment potential. Zara did an excellent job at a reasonable price. Now anyone could afford a piece of their paradise. This scent suits hot days of Summer; it is suitable for evenings out and even nights. Why not?
The review is based upon a 100ml bottle I have owned since June 2021.
