Luxury fall candle in the trinket shop of a small tourist town
This opens with a honeyed, sticky coffee and spiced, stewed fruit. There’s lots of cinnamon present and a little tartness to the fruit that feels like mulled wine, but it’s overall quite sweet from the honey. The scent makes me think a little bit of a fall candle, but it doesn’t smell cheap at all. It’s more luxurious, like one you’d light to relax in the evening by the fire with a cup of spiced tea.
The spiced fruit glows and the coffee adds a darkness. A gently sweet dusting of cocoa powder becomes more prominent as the scent settles. The dry, woody, acorn note comes forward as well while the honey darkens around the spiced fruit and the earthiness of the coffee continues to linger. The truffle and acorn aren’t very strong, but they add a really nice depth to the whole. The base has both glowy and dusty qualities in the patchouli and tobacco which really compliments the honey, fruit and spices and seems to have the effect of stretching them further.
After a few hours, the scent is a lot more dusty in a way that reminds me of an old candle burning in an attic and also, sadly, a little bit of pier 1 (kind of tacky home goods store). It’s a very powdery, honeyed patchouli and tobacco scent with little remnants of the fruit. I’m reminded of a candle burning in a trinket or antique shop in a small, tourist town. I still think it smells nice, it just doesn’t really align as much with the type of scent I want to put on my body.
Bf rating: Initially, he got home and hugged me and commented that I smelled good. Then, over the course of the next couple hours, he kept sniffing around different rooms of the house claiming that something smelled “off” and “sour like old puke”. Come to find out it was my scent trail.
