A Touch of Léa
Slime Satisfaction intrigued me from the very beginning. Mr. Polly claims that some of my favorite fragrances actually smell like children's play dough. As long as he likes it, that's perfectly fine with me. And as long as it still feels like a perfume that I'm wearing.
Some of these ASMR perfumes, at least the ones I've had under my nose so far, smell very authentic. The grandparents' kitchen, the barbecue in the woods. All childhood memories that flashed back to me during the test. Others remind me of beautiful perfumes that I know. This includes Rain Tapping, Grass Tickles, but also Slime Satisfaction.
This scent actually reminds me of a perfume that I've had in my collection for a long time and love very much. And amusingly, it's none of the usual play dough suspects, like Baiser de Florence or 450. No, I think of Calypso St. Barth Léa when I sniff this ASMR. Everyone who loves and knows Léa, as I do, will understand. It's simply a beautiful, almondy and floral-tinged vanilla scent, which is supposed to smell tropical, yet despite its "plant-like" quality, it always evokes a little bit of dolls. And exactly this "doll-like" quality is also present in Slime Satisfaction, which completely forgoes flowers.
The opening is very bitter almond-dominated, but very quickly, the scent of a new doll comes into play. As a former chemistry student, I also feel like I'm synthesizing benzaldehyde, that is, almond baking aroma, in the lab. In the base, the scent becomes very vanilla-like, which makes it even more similar to Léa, as this one also fades out with a vanilla note. I have no associations with glue, but then again, I'm neither French nor Italian.
The scent is very, very delicate. Hardly any sillage and unfortunately also only a rather poor longevity. Léa itself is, as lovers know, not a powerhouse, which is why I only wear this fine vanilla scent in the warm season. In winter, my nose would very quickly no longer be able to perceive it. But compared to this fine doll scent, my Léa is actually a little powerhouse. However, I suspect that these scents are not necessarily meant to last a whole day and impress with greater sillage.
I'm going to test this pretty almond doll a bit further. Maybe one day it will enrich my collection after all? Unfortunately, Léa in this formula, as I know and love it, is no longer available. There is supposed to be a new version, but the comments I've read so far have really put me off, which is why I don't even want to test it. The disappointment would surely be far too great. So I'd rather stick with Slime Satisfaction. Léa fans: Definitely give it a try. Although it becomes noticeably more edible than Léa towards the end, the similarity is definitely there.
Many thanks to Kovex for the testing opportunity.
