Black Mango Borntostandout 2025

Smells exactly like a mango lassi: milky, slightly spicy, lots of mango. This stuff is very potent, half a spray lasted until next day, with heavy projection in the first hour in a pretty cold day. Some people sense mostly the oud & leather, but to my nose the mango lassi smell dominated the whole wear.
In a few words: very potent & very delicious. Fortunately I managed to get it for 2/3 of retail price & is absolutely worth it for that price!

I gave it two wears to make sure--this one is challenging. My thoughts from a couple dabs on my wrist.

Initial 5 min: Sickly, sticky, sweet mango. Something "off" starts to show itself. Pervasive sweetness. Even from a small dabber, the strength was there.

30 min mark: The mango lightens a lot, but the leather gets stronger. Spicy/sharp--but I'm not sure where that's coming from. The synthetic underbelly is more apparent. It's smokey. I think it's so intense that I went nose blind based on my SO's reaction. It seems it's much stronger in the air.

Onward: It sticks and overpowers. I couldn't smell anything outside of my wrist. I put on a Stéphane Humbert Lucas perfume (Pink Boa) on my chest (3 sprays) and all I could smell was Black Mango --it completely drowned the other out.

The longer I wear it, the more I "accept" it, but it's too much. My SO hated it and wouldn't stop complaining about the scent, saying, "Too much leather. And smoke. Smells like a smoker died and you're sniffing them."

Update from same day: It's in the deep dry down now (6 hours in). I can still smell it wafting. However, I get hints of halitosis? Or sweet armpit? Something like that.... must be the oud they use.

Update 2 (weeks later to start with a fresh nose): I tried it again and had others smell. Based on their unanimous negative reactions, I have to rate this one lower due to the lack of wearability for most people.

I'm more accepting--but that's because fragrance is a hobby of mine. Most simply want to smell good to others. I don't believe most will like this scent. This is NOT a safe blind buy.

i really, really wanted to love this. on the first spray and for like 20-30 minutes after that, its the most gorgeous, delicious mango scent that I’ve smelled in a perfume. not quite photorealistic for me, but like a really good mango candy, or maybe a smoothie. but after that the woody notes are too strong for my taste, it smells overwhelmingly of a bonfire once it settles on my skin, even fabrics too. and it’s not even like i hate that scent, i don’t hate it but it’s just so powerful and i don’t know if I want my person to smell like that, you know? ill keep the rest of the sample that i have just in case i have a change of heart (and that initial scent really is that good, maybe it’s more suited to colder weather?), but unfortunately i was a little disappointed by this :( still planning on trying the others in this collection tho

Artificial and agressive mango with some lactonic background.
Reminds mango lassi strukture but shortly going into mango pulp from the can. So oversweeted with Sugar.
Leathery facets.

This is not a powerful scent as these extraits being marketed. BTSO is a trendy brand.
These releases are forgettable. Enormous number of releases. But it won't leave a mark in olfactory history.

I might be biased because I love BTSO as a house. Their scents bloom on my skin and have so much longevity and depth to them. This one is no different. Its starts out with a punchy and juicy mango, then settles in to something slightly spicier, something a bit more "masculine", which i presume is the leather note, while you are still getting that bright mango and citrus from the opening. Then, as time goes on, the scent gets warmer and more vanillic. I actually really enjoyed this one, its not quite what I expected but I think its very well done.
