Houdini Bujairami

Fresh citrus scents and I are not known to be particularly good friends. But in the current heat, some things suddenly feel just right. With "Houdini | Bujairami," I primarily perceive juicy mandarin and blood orange - bitter, zesty, and with a pleasant bitterness that makes the fragrance interesting and that I really like right now. Additionally, I get some light powdery vibes here, which give the scent a softness and a hint of floral notes.

It feels lively, refreshing, and perfectly suits hot summer days for me. One of those fragrances that show you sometimes just have to wait for the right circumstances.

I am immediately reminded of City of Stars. The DNA is remarkably well captured and instantly conveys that bright, fruity-citrus vibe. At the beginning, I primarily perceive the bergamot and lemon, while blood orange and red mandarin provide additional juiciness in the background. The opening feels lively and inviting, but it quickly loses intensity. Over time, the fresh citrus accents fade more and more, and the fragrance moves in a distinctly softer direction. In the drydown, musk and a powdery note dominate for me, lingering on the skin for a long time.

I was pleasantly surprised by the closeness to City of Stars. Those who like the DNA will find a very successful interpretation here, even though the original feels a bit fresher and more radiant to me. At the same time, I wish the beautiful citrus notes lasted longer, as they are precisely what makes the first minutes so appealing. The later development is pleasant and clean, but for me, it doesn't quite reach the radiance that I associate with the strongest Louis Vuitton fragrances. Overall, however, it is a lovely scent that respects and captures its predecessor well, without completely thrilling me.
