Identical, just creamier and softer
Casati does not reinvent the wheel here, but rather draws inspiration from the familiar. One can do that, yes. After all, the "original creation" "Black Casati | Casati" is quite demanding and will hardly find wide appeal, a well-known recycled DNA is indeed more pleasant for my nose.
Here, they have taken a cue from their compatriots at Xerjoff and their "Naxos | Xerjoff." A qualitatively and olfactorily successful work, definitely.
The fragrance starts off noticeably more intense or fuller than its predecessor, which can be attributed to the fruits and the date. The absence of lavender makes it come across as softer.
After about 1 hour, the two fragrances are 99% similar.
In the tobacco note, the wheat is separated from the chaff. In Naxos, I actually find this note disturbing and harsh. Normally, I am a fan of tobacco, but in this case, my nose is not pleased. Here, N.11 does it better, as the incense that replaces the tobacco is by no means overwhelming but beautifully and harmoniously integrated.
Sweet, spicy creaminess with a smoky hint in the background - very pleasing.
Overall, a damn successful interplay of all the thoughtfully chosen notes, with none noticeably dominating.
Anyone who doesn't really like Naxos should definitely give this one a try!
