Listen to Gaea
While the red bottle stood for the fire and for fragrances (especially of great cultures) the past, the white bottle is a symbol of the present. In this part of the collection, Peter deals with topics that are close to his heart, that are current or have been on his mind for a long time.
Here, white stands for our industrialization and the penetration of technology into every corner of our lives, combined with a functional, aesthetic disillusionment. A lot of things are white or black because they - supposedly - fit better together. Uniformity of a society that never longed for definition and individuality more than today.
And in this whirlpool of possession and decay, man has overlooked for decades how much he hurts Mother Earth - Gaia or Gaea - in this process. Yeah, bleeding her out. And it is the concrete of the big cities, greenhouse gases and exhaust fumes, the copping down of the rainforest, the melting of the poles, the loss of fertility of our soils and the death of the bees that Peter processes in his this, white, fragrance.
He draws a portrait of the healthy mother earth, where we are surrounded by the lush, harsh green of the rainforest. The wet topsoil, bursting with life, under our bare feet. Flowers blossom, offer bees a home and food.
Beautiful and almost a little melancholic, sad.
Gaea should be shaking us up. Not only because it is a wonderful fragrance, which should not just be a time capsule, with which our children will remember how the earth in all its beauty really smelled before we destroyed it. This scent should - not only when worn - lead the children of Gaea back to a better way.
Just small steps. Everyone. Would be a start.
Listen to Gaea!
