Lesson learned: trust only my nose!
After reading a lot about it...after so many reviews my expectations was quite high.
I am a true orris lover and I am someone who uses orris butter with 15% irone content, as a perfume in itself. I buy either French or Moroccan iris pallida or iris germanica extracts from renowned providers. I am referring to all these just to denote that I am quite accustomed to the orris profile scent and its facets.

Having said that, I am a little bit disappointed with Iris Trousseau...
While I understand and fully respect the intention, the perfume is not something to shake the foundations of perfumery, not even adds something new to the orris/iris soliflore category.
I fully support the idea and the effort behind it! It is truly unique that a group of people are working together from the planting to the bottling and all this with personal work not to mention the high skills in both agricultural and scientific terms....BUT this is where it ends its significance for me.

Returning to the perfume itself, it is way too powdery for my taste and it is a sister of Celine’s La Peau Nue and Jorums Trimerous (which is far more iris buttery and more true to the orris butter extract's powdery profile).

Have tested it extensively and it has a piercing thin jasminey type of note which is disturbing. I have also experienced this note in Trudon's Bruma which is also an iris centered perfume created by Antoine Lee. Maybe it's a molecule or an ingredient or a combination that Mr. Lee uses that doesn't seem to go along with me well.

I was disappointed with the perfume and myself for not testing it first before buying it. Gladly, I bought it for a split so I sold the decants and the remaining of the split. Hope it will find a home with more love .....
I am sorry that I cannot share the same experience with most of the people here. In fact I am a little bit jealous with the people whose description are so emotional regarding this perfume.

Unfortunately, no matter how much I tried, for me it is a no; considering the price tag and the exclusivity it is not something I would return again.

A dance of cool and warmth
Iris Trousseau opens with a cool, almost icy breeze with a delicate hint of sweetness. It has that tingling feeling of being thirsty and sensing water all around you as if something sparkling is about to surface. After about fifteen minutes, the fragrance begins to shift with the warmth of the skin. It feels like stepping into a warm outdoor bath on a misty morning, the cold air prickling your face while steam rises from the hot water. The magic of this scent lies in that play between coolness and warmth.

The hazelnut note adds something intimate, almost skin to skin, giving the fragrance a soft and rounded character. In the distance, you catch echoes of other warm iris compositions, perhaps a trace of Guerlain’s Iris Torrefié, yet brighter and more effervescent. What makes Iris Trousseau special is that it remains elegant, warm and cool all at once. In the sillage, the sparkling facet keeps lifting up, while closer to the skin you discover the warmer, creamier tones. The contrast makes the fragrance both intriguing and vibrant.

For me, Iris Trousseau is a distinctive and creatively developed iris perfume that shows how exciting and layered this note can be. It feels both classic and modern and carries the sense of something crafted with care and artistry.

Warm, raw, woodsy, beautiful orris
I get some chocolatey vibes in the beginning, maybe because of the hazelnut and tonka bean. I could do without this part, but it's not particularly bothersome to me either.

After 20 minutes or so, the chocolatey undertones morph into a beautiful woodsy heart, featuring a lovely combination of dry sandalwood and cedar that's reminiscent of Tam Dao Eau de Toilette. But the woods don't stand on their own; they're a mere accompaniment to the titular star of the show, iris.

The iris — or, more accurately, orris root — foundation of the perfume smells tender, fascinatingly natural, buttery smooth, vaguely sweet, and ever so slightly edible. I've smelt plenty of orris accords that I enjoy, but this one really feels quite special. It foregoes the impersonal cleanliness or cosmetic powderiness that sometimes accompanies orris in perfumes, in favor of approachable yet intimate warmth.

High End on All Levels…
Iris - this plant does something to me. I love the flower; but the scent even more. This elegant powderiness always gives me an intensely emotional feeling.
Now I knew that Marcel also has a passion for iris. As a biologist, probably for many other species as well, but he appreciates the scent just the same. The anticipation for the Danner & Flemming fragrances was therefore immensely high.

The time had come - Iris Trousseau - just this name! Trousseau rhymes with Chapeau! Here we go.
I am melting away. This powdery, cuddly softness is hard to describe. The iris here is cozy, soft, enveloping.
Hazelnut, tonka, and sandalwood form a symbiosis. They emphasize the softness of the violet flower.
The hazelnut almost acts like a non-sweet cocoa here. Very noble!
Sandalwood rounds it off, as if perfectly dusted to a soft finish.
I love this scent. It wears so “simply.” Like a second skin!

The packaging is incredibly high quality and also absolutely high end. The sprayer is a 100/10. And the click of the heavy metal cap drives me crazy - perfect! I just sent a friend photos of the bottle and the packaging. After that, I tried to explain to her in a voice message how unbelievably elegant everything feels and looks. Instead, I could hardly put it into words, and all you could hear was the click of the cap.
High end on all levels. I am so in love!
By the way, my very first Barbie was named “Iris.” Is the circle closing here?!

Iris Trousseau or the Scent of a Baroque Time Travel
Excerpt from my blog:

...

Thoughts and feelings are swirling around inside me. They say that scents can trigger emotions, awaken memories, and bring lost parts of life back to life in an instant.
With Iris Trousseau, something entirely different happens to me! It feels as if I have been pulled into another dimension! Impressions rain down on me like fragments of a puzzle. At first, the picture seems rather difficult to piece together.
A pearl-gray, tightly woven cashmere blanket envelops me. I feel both coolness and warmth at the same time. It seems as if I have been transported to another era. Before my inner eye, I see flickering candlelight. I find myself in a large, dark room illuminated only by the light of grand golden chandeliers. I hear soft whispering and giggling, and I see masked figures flitting past me. My gaze wanders over the thick high stone walls, the richly gilded furniture, the heavy burgundy velvet curtains, and I suspect that I am in a castle somewhere in Europe.
Behind me, I hear a door opening, and sparkling musical notes reach my ears. Spontaneously, I turn around and see dancing couples swirling through a richly decorated hall full of joy and energy. A grand celebration seems to be underway. A masquerade ball!
Now various scents also reach me. My nose catches a hint of incense and candle wax. And a bouquet of other pleasant aromas that I identify as perfumes of the dancing society. But as soon as I become aware of these scents, a very special fragrance rises to my nose. It feels both light and dense. Cool and warm. Distant and elegant yet enveloping and smooth. A scent full of darkness and candlelight. A perfume full of depth and mystique. Danger and sensuality. A baroque vampire scent.
I am almost hypnotized by it. My face stretches towards the fragrance like a plant reaching for sunshine. Tears of emotion at its beauty sparkle in my eyes.
I look down at myself and see a heavy purple velvet dress with an embroidered corset. My feet are adorned with matching dance shoes. I am ready to partake in the mystical soirée. And yet, I want to linger here for a moment in peace, in intimate solitude with this wonderful scent that envelops me like a second skin or a velvet cloak. I want to snuggle into it. Enchanted and calmed at the same time.
Iris Trousseau is a truly astonishing polymorphic fragrance. Mysterious, sublime, baroque, sensuous in a slightly dangerous way.
Rarely have I been so captivated by a scent!

For a moment, I caught the refined scent of this stranger in the crowd: vetiver soap. Tobacco. Iris cream.
A fleeting mental fingerprint.

A quite lovely iris
Then creamy sandalwood and too much cardamom spoil the scent
With vetiver, it drifts into the masculine

I really like Iris ...
it's dusty and powdery dry :)
it gets a bit woody-spicy -
and so faint that I can barely
perceive the scent!!

A harmonious scent. Iris with soft creamy spice, subtly sweet-powdery. But a retro hairspray association and the minimal sillage are off-putting.

Actually an iris scent that I like: brightened by bergamot, violet leaf is hinted at and has a matte green; unfortunately, the base is too sweet.

It goes straight to the heart like a Comète, like iris powder stardust, like the Milky Way made of iris butter, like happiness.

This scent is unique; the prominent iris and hazelnut note at the beginning later blend into such a wonderful mélange! Shockingly in love!

Warm, soft, spicy, enveloping - this iris is a true delight. In my opinion, it can't be done better! The packaging is great too.
