Iris Trousseau Danner & Flemming 2025
1
Lesson learned: trust only my nose!
After reading a lot about it...after so many reviews my expectations was quite high.
I am a true orris lover and I am someone who uses orris butter with 15% irone content, as a perfume in itself. I buy either French or Moroccan iris pallida or iris germanica extracts from renowned providers. I am referring to all these just to denote that I am quite accustomed to the orris profile scent and its facets.
Having said that, I am a little bit disappointed with Iris Trousseau...
While I understand and fully respect the intention, the perfume is not something to shake the foundations of perfumery, not even adds something new to the orris/iris soliflore category.
I fully support the idea and the effort behind it! It is truly unique that a group of people are working together from the planting to the bottling and all this with personal work not to mention the high skills in both agricultural and scientific terms....BUT this is where it ends its significance for me.
Returning to the perfume itself, it is way too powdery for my taste and it is a sister of Celine’s La Peau Nue and Jorums Trimerous (which is far more iris buttery and more true to the orris butter extract's powdery profile).
Have tested it extensively and it has a piercing thin jasminey type of note which is disturbing. I have also experienced this note in Trudon's Bruma which is also an iris centered perfume created by Antoine Lee. Maybe it's a molecule or an ingredient or a combination that Mr. Lee uses that doesn't seem to go along with me well.
I was disappointed with the perfume and myself for not testing it first before buying it. Gladly, I bought it for a split so I sold the decants and the remaining of the split. Hope it will find a home with more love .....
I am sorry that I cannot share the same experience with most of the people here. In fact I am a little bit jealous with the people whose description are so emotional regarding this perfume.
Unfortunately, no matter how much I tried, for me it is a no; considering the price tag and the exclusivity it is not something I would return again.
