Nanometer Thick Strawberry Tea
Background: Parfumos sends me samples, I test them without any prior knowledge of the perfumes sent and describe my reaction - that of an untrained amateur.

The beginning starts distinctly summery, fresh, and fruity. Citrusy, slightly sweet, and with a pleasant smoothness. Alarm bells hilariously ring immediately because I become concerned about the longevity right away. Silly, but in this case justified. Longevity is not the most important thing in the world, and I let myself be convinced by the heart note. Indeed, it is wonderful. Slightly woody, with a green tea note and above all oak moss. I can now recognize it as a molecule because it reminds me of my grandfather. Here it is wonderfully crafted. Finely woven, balanced, and quite interesting, although it does not generate a lasting prominence. This could also be due to the sillage, which is in the nanometer range! What follows is a quiet exit, and I can hardly wait to show the whole thing to my daughter (5). So I interrupt the little one while she is shooting Smarties with the toy rocket and ask for her expert opinion. Today's quote: "That's moldy strawberry tea with raisins. If you drink that, you become invisible and that's super dangerous in traffic."
Only banning it will help!

Whoops, Nicolaï did it again..
...they played with my heart. Why does this house only create such wonderful fragrances and then release them in limited quantities? Zut alors!

After I fell hard for "Une Fleur en Mai | Nicolaï / Parfums de Nicolaï" and ended up empty-handed, this time I could at least score some loot.

The fragrance, released for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 and unfortunately limited, starts fresh, sporty, and summery with a zesty opening reminiscent of a Mojito. I’m guessing lime, well almost - is anyone really able to distinguish lime and yuzu blindfolded?? The slight sweetness that brown sugar brings to a Mojito comes here from a well-measured mandarin.
@Mapaba compared Victoire to Wūlóng Chá Extrait de Parfum and I can understand the association, but in my opinion, the two fragrances are at most cousins. The tea note in Nishane is much stronger and present from the very beginning. Nishane's top note feels warmer and softer to me, more mandarin/orange... Nicolaï's lime is sportier and surprisingly long-lasting. I currently have both in a parallel test on each arm and I understand the overlap, but they are two distinctly different fragrances.

The scent then eventually shifts from a short to a long-distance experience. The floral notes (I love such vagueness) have forgotten their tickets and have to watch the competition on TV.

The judges Moss/Amber/Wood/Musk, a well-rehearsed team that I trust blindly, are preparing the medals for the award ceremony. For a sporty summer fragrance, Victoire holds up well, and thus a silver medal can be taken home. I refuse to give it gold because I dislike the silly limitation and unfortunately, it is only available in one size. I guess I’ll have to stock up again... meh...

Early victory of the drydown over the opening, yet an exciting, clean play
Since Thursday, the limited Victoire has found a place in my home. Of course, I had to test it immediately and I am still glad that I ordered it.

I was curious about how the quite well-known components and usual suspects from Patricia de Nicolaï would be dosed/used together, whether it might hold a surprise, and of course how the perfume would ultimately smell.

The opening is simply described for someone who already knows the Nishane Wūlóng Chá: it smells identical and precisely so. Green tea paired with lemongrass and a hint of fig. My association is a Buddhist spa area, a soothing sauna infusion, regeneration. Thus, this image quite accurately reflects what the scent aims to express on the occasion of the Olympic Games.

Unfortunately, this initial mood or scent profile changes a bit too quickly in my view, shifting to a distinctly more floral, soapy spectacle with a slightly synthetic note lingering. Not unpleasant or disturbing, but still surprising.

What remains in the drydown is a fresh, well-groomed, and citrusy scent with a slightly woody background note. So exactly what one would want to wear after sports or a spa visit, and it never becomes unpleasant. I can also imagine it very well on hot days at a beach bar or in an outdoor pool.

I applied the Victoire in the morning and could still perceive it clearly in the evening at about 20cm distance from the skin. The sillage, however, is lost after about 3-4 hours.

Conclusion:

Anyone who already owns the Nishane can confidently skip this order, as in my opinion, they already have the most refined interpretation of the listed ingredients in their collection with slightly better sillage. I would consider the longevity to be identical.

However, I find the result to be significantly more harmonious than, for example, the highly praised Imagination, which I eventually sold because I could no longer stand the overly intense typical fabric softener/cleaning product vibe in the drydown. The Victoire feels more elegant and straightforward without any rough edges.

Since I currently own neither the Nishane nor the LV, the Victoire comes in very handy for me and will be a useful companion, provided summer ever arrives. A solid scent without a major "aha effect."

I paid just under €70 for the pre-order, which is more than reasonable considering what you get for it.

Due to the white musk and the subtly soapy nuance, I find it very wearable for women as well.

EDIT:

Opening = Wūlóng Chá Extrait de Parfum

Drydown = "Accento | XerJoff"

Somewhere between "One Moment in Time" and today ...
After a long time, a fragrance has once again motivated me to write a review.
I am indeed a big fan of Parfums de Nicolaï, and "New York Intense | Nicolaï / Parfums de Nicolaï" is one of my absolute favorite scents. This naturally means that I am not only always curious about what this privately run fragrance house releases in terms of creations, but also that I might be a bit subjective in my evaluation. But hey, fragrances are art. Art evokes emotions, and how can one remain completely objective in that regard?

Good mood and joy of life! I truly believe that this is what this fragrance instantly triggers in my mind. Not that there aren't similar scents - we are certainly not talking about innovation here - but more about a very beautiful fragrance that simply makes you eager for the day. If the sun is shining, it's the weekend, and maybe you have something nice planned for the day, then nothing can really stop you.
It's almost a shame that it is limited.

About the fragrance:
Victoire by Parfums de Nicolaï really surprised me positively. For me, it is a zesty, fresh scent that becomes floral and significantly softer in the drydown, which will particularly shine on hot summer days. Yuzu, jasmine, and green tea are at the forefront, giving the perfume a refreshing, invigorating note. In the drydown, the scent shifts slightly more towards a woody, slightly fruity direction, but without any sweetness, which I personally really appreciate. The performance is decent for a freshie, but could certainly be better, and the price/performance ratio is really great.

In my opinion, Victoire differs significantly from the very popular Nicolai scents like "New York Intense | Nicolaï / Parfums de Nicolaï" or "Patchouli Intense / Patchouli Homme (Eau de Parfum) | Nicolaï / Parfums de Nicolaï," as I find it to be much rounder and more harmonious, which makes it particularly exciting. The inspiration from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is not so clearly perceptible to me personally - the fragrance exudes a dynamic, energetic atmosphere, yes! But, as has already been mentioned in some statements here, it is an absolutely feel-good fragrance that celebrates life. Perhaps this is even a much clearer reference to the spirit of the Olympics than the actual intention. Overall, a very successful summer fragrance that brings joy and freshness into life. Absolute recommendation to buy!

Yuzu and mandarin, green and floral notes dominate the scent and float gently into a pleasant musk tone: Olympia 24, bring it on!

For me, it's more of a loser than a winner
a synthetic amber note
unfortunately ruins this herb-fresh scent
it tends to come off as harsh

A surprisingly creamy-floral, absolutely cheerful citrus scent! It brings back memories of CK One, but with a muskier twist (Galaxolid).

Beautiful, zesty freshie with quite good performance. Yuzu and green tea set the tone here. Great summer scent! Not typical Nicolaï.

Simply a beautiful "good mood" scent. It put a smile on my face.
Fresh, citrusy, zesty, lightly floral, musky.
