Very Much Animalic

Many thanks to Nick for the decant of "Oud Sultani 1975 | Ensar Oud / Oriscent" :-) This is a very animalic oud fragrance that really packs a punch. The longevity is quite impressive at nearly 24 hours, and the sillage is also quite exuberant.

The top note starts off very animalic thanks to castoreum. The heart note smells both quite oriental and distinctly of oud, but also floral with roses, iris, violets, and a hint of jasmine blossoms. In the base, oud takes the lead, giving off a very woody, spicy, resinous, earthy, and leathery scent. In the background, it remains animalic thanks to musk with a sweetness and a touch of bourbon vanilla.

I believe a few weeks ago I would have found this type of fragrance quite awful, but I seem to be getting used to the scents from Ensar Oud.

For me: successful

Since I cannot understand the partly very negative comments posted here at all, here is a small counterargument.
At the start, we rush through the stable at lightning speed. After that, the scent quickly transforms into a wonderfully balanced rose-musk-oud, caught by a dark sweetness of vanilla. Nothing seems to me to be in the foreground, but rather beautifully balanced. A highlight for my nose. And the longevity breaks all records.
