Yes, once again it takes some getting used to
Many thanks to Nick for the bottling of Qi Nan :-) This is another one of those Ensar Oud fragrances that confuse me rather than trying to please me. It is again very peculiar. But the longevity of well over 18 hours is amazing and the sillage is very strong.
The top note starts very spicy with this citrusy and numbing Szechuan pepper aroma. Cardamom, peppermint candy and a resinous cypress aroma also resonate. There are also green apples in the background. The heart note remains very spicy and herbal thanks to rosemary and juniper berries. Blue lotus makes a brief appearance and then there is even the scent of beeswax. The base smells obnoxious for several hours. Chinese oud is really bad for me and it therefore smells brutally musty, earthy and simply unpleasant for a very long time. To my great surprise, after half a day it even smells pleasantly sweet, subtly balsamic and vanilla-like amber. Musk also provides a certain animalic quality.
Once again, this is a very heavy fragrance that seems to be made only for Ensar Oud lovers. Once again, I'm totally out of it...
