Black Gris? No... this is better!
In my opinion Sultan Black Rose is a rosier and more refined version of the Black Gris DNA. On my skin its an earthy, smoky top; like moist soil combined with amazing smokey Oud. As it settles the rose emerges and it is not timid. It is rich layered and full-bodied it is not a dewy fresh rose but rather something deeper and more complex. The smokieness with the earthiness stays in the foreground for me and in the backround there is the amazing rose. As that begins to develop I notice a sharp yet juicy note of tart fig emerging from underneath. The fig and rose combo reminded me of tart raspberries the first time i smelled it. It pairs amazingly with the rose and has a very tart vibe. Its a stunning contrast. The balance is what really sets it apart. It has a richness that is both opulent and incredibly wearable and personal. It reaches its full potential in the drydown where the rose, Oud and fig combo really shines. This one is going to be a mainstay in my collection I can already tell. Its too good to risk going without so Ill be looking for a backup bottle!
