“She also considered very seriously what she would look like in a little cottage in the middle of the forest, dressed in a melancholy gray and holding communion only with the birds and trees"
- A.A. Milne, Once on a Time
Wow, not exactly what one expects from the fragrance pyramid at the beginning, immediately a spicy-greenish-misty mood, aromatic grasses, a few small lit wood shavings, leaning more towards conifers, a subtle hint of incense even, the citrus notes are present, but also leaning more towards a tea mood, grated peels, some already dried and poured with an Earl Grey. The pink pepper is also present and nicely spicy.
10-15 minutes in and the cedar becomes stronger, it gets even more forest-green, a truly fresh earth spreads out, which I find nice and quite special. Cardamom comes out more and beautifully dry, but the pepper and citrus peels remain pleasantly subtle even into the 30 minutes, creating a nice transition.
In the drydown, it continues with a lot of vetiver, the slightly smoky aspect fades away, patchouli gives an almost leathery dryness and in the end, during the last 1-2 skin-close hours, it takes on a nearly dark tobacco & hemp direction, very nice.
Overall a very nicely green-dry fragrance, pleasing, has a certain development, although the core from 1h-3h is very consistent, it’s not like with some fragrances where you find something new every time you sniff. But it doesn’t need that either. Good stuff, moving to the extended wish list.
Sillage/Projection solid, but nothing more.

Nice to hear that you smell the frankincense too - I'm not the only one! ;) I've definitely revised my opinion on H/S after getting the bottle and wearing it more often. It lasts!

Sometimes these softer notes are just beautiful. A scent like a mist or a veil.

Very well-made fragrance. Unfortunately, it lacks impact in terms of sillage and longevity. Still a success!
