A very heavy and intense fragrance
Many thanks to Mo for the bottling of Purnama Extrait de Parfum :-) This is another oriental oud bomb that you have to warm up to. My best friend was a little overwhelmed. Personally, I think the fragrance is great, exciting but a little too intense for me at the end. The sillage is really intense at the beginning. But the fragrance becomes quite skin-like after around 6 hours, even if the "broth" is very oily on the skin.
The top note offers a lot of labdanum. It smells herbal, like ribwort syrup and dried plums with a hint of honey and lime. The heart note is very overloaded with oud. The Malaysian oud smells herbaceous again, very oriental, woody and somewhat green. Cambodian oud adds an animalic smokiness to the fragrance. Laotian oud again provides honey, smoke, herbs and leather. The base remains on the woody and oriental oud side with incense. Resin and licorice provide a heavy finish.
I think this fragrance is pretty awesome. Somehow I'm at war with real oud - either I like it or I'm overwhelmed. Difficult thing.
