Oud!! and nuts

Noisette d'asie is a fragrance centered on oud (everywhere in the pyramid): specifically on two types: Cambodian and Prachin. The latter is the more particular one that gives sweet anise nuances.
To balance this part of oud and emphasize the woody aspect, different types of dried fruits, tobacco and cocoa were used.
After the fairly cheesy opening, the real soul of the scent comes out with the "balsamic" oud and dried nutty nuances.
Not bad overall, although I was expecting something more "gourmand."

Woody oud

I love the point that the chocolate gives to a powerful oud that is smelled dominantly at the top.
This perfume will delight those who find the our-rosa combination of Oud Damascena (or "The Night" from F. Malle) too overwhelming, as well as having a more masculine scent, very focused on wood. I guess the tobacco note achieves that effect in part.

I would say that its projection power is less than Oud Damascena, in this case it seems discreet, more intimate and close.
Because of this and because of the type of scent, it seems to me more suitable for a more intimate and comfortable use than for a social act.

These types of scents with such a powerful oud and such an original nuance within a natural perfumery approach are not easily found.
Except for the creations of Bortnikoff or Ensar, I don't know much else at this level.

Bucolic Elegy

Strange how in all the summers the images shimmer over the fields, reflections, cool and silver, as if the cardamom from the blazing land flows in a thousand warm waves through the open gates of the barns. There you are in the old cart. The hay fermented in the wooden troughs, the air full of dried raisins, the scent of the dark brown puddles where warm cattle lie, carrying the dust of the Kaukau on their backs, their breathing leather rising and falling. Now and then a snort. The buzzing of flies. Light beams over misty floors. The longer shadows almond-colored. Idylle. Bucolic Elegy.

Alp Veliogulliari founded his label Katana Parfums in 2021 to refine precious raw materials from Asia into high-quality fragrance creations by hand.
"Noisette d'Asie" combines bright, anise-like, nutty as well as smoky, leathery, and cocoa-like notes of a Thai Oud (Pranchin) with mild barnyard animalic and earthy notes of a Cambodian Oud. The fragrance opens with slightly alcoholic and ethereally cool vapors (anise, camphor) that soon lead into the warm setting of a barn, where smoky leather, dried-fruit raisin and date aromas, mulch, and fermented earth dominate alongside dusty, bitter cocoa. The mentioned tobacco absolute and smoky amber add a bit more volume, but are perceived more as color than as aroma. The same applies to the nuts in the top and base; they are subordinate to the overall picture, making it appear more complex. Only the camphor-like cardamom stands out in the base, shimmering silver like a light beam in the nutty-earthy dust of the dark brown barn. The bucolic idylle is distinctly and evening-filling in scent.
