Artisan Ethnique Lattafa Pride 2024

Dr Frankenstein woke up one day, turned his chromatograph and decided that he wanted to mix "Khamrah / خمرة | Lattafa / لطافة" , "Honor & Glory | Lattafa / لطافة" and Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum , but only the ugliest parts of each one.

The stingy cinnamon, the acidic chemical ?pineapple? and the metallic sharpness from the ????

Parts of a half animated corpse cornered into being alive. Absolutely horrid. Made me question those very parts about the original fragrances.

I am so confused as to why people are voting down on the comparison between this and "Honor & Glory | Lattafa / لطافة" .

Baffled that Lattafa did this honestly.

Sugar plays off rum and becomes intense and heavy. It surrounds with a brutally sweet miasma, thick, far reaching, and eye wateringly sweet. It doesn't let up, dissipate or dry down for what seems like eons, and not once have I become nose blind to it.

The dry down, which is (at the very least!) 6 to 8 hours later, isn't entierly bad. The smooth chocolatey caramel it becomes is delicious, but spending half the day fighting through that fug of sugar to get to this dry down just isn't worth it for me.

It's thankfully less intense and heavy at this point though, but maybe I'm just going numb with sugar shock.

So about the socks, after I got Artisan Ethnique out from it's maceration last week, the first thing I did was spray it on a tissue and put it in my sock draw.

I do this with most new scents to see how they fair longevity wise, and having nice smelling socks to put on is always a nice start to a day.

Anyway, I've been living off the clean laundry I hadn't put away yet, as you do, and hadn't had to open that draw till this morning. This was not a nice start to my day. The wall of sugar hit me like a truck.

I can still smell it from the socks on my feet, the socks that I'm wearing with trousers and shoes, and that are currently with my legs under my desk.

Fuck me, this is getting ridiculous. This is from a tissue I sprayed and put next to these socks a week ago. A week ago! People keep asking me what smells like cake in here (and it's not the weak ass spritz of SJP Covet I'm actually wearing right now, that's for sure).
Insane longevity, 24h+ on skin and I'd say probably weeks on clothing.

Huge and intense projection for the first 6 to 8h, the intensity lowers somewhat as it dries down but the projection lasts.

Buuuuuuuuut I'm not mad about it. The rum to my nose is very present but almost watered down, as if it had been a shot of rum in a glass with a large ice cube that has already melted. Then, you can really smell all the amazing gourmand facets about this scent. It's very, very nice. Mine has been macerating in my home/environment for about two weeks now. Maybe it's just placebo, but I swear with each passing day the scent just gets better. I've been wearing this on its own and with my SDJ 71 or B&BW Whipped Honey Vanilla body mists; I think I prefer the latter, just depends on my mood. I would heavily recommend this perfume if you are looking for a boozy gourmand scent that is perfect for a night out or a very special date you want to impress ;]

As a gourmand perfume lover I had been very reluctant to blind-purchase Artisan Ethnique. Sugar notes put me off big time, rum or so called boozy scents aren’t my favourite. At the earliest opportunity to sample the perfume, I was pleasantly surprised by its beauty! Notes develop in a different order to listed above. At first, cacao, caramel and oak moss show up. They are followed by (my least favourite) liquor phase with cinnamon, plum and rum being prominent. Here I think of the cloying, in my opinion, Khamra Qahwa. The drydown resembles of powdery vanilla, tonka and cashmere.
Sophisticated cosy scent with impressive longevity and significant projection. Perfect for colder months, especially Christmas. Similar vibe to, but much better than Khamra and Khamra Qahwa.

To my nose, Artisan Ethnique shares a striking similarity with Rochas Man Intense. Both are dominated by a heavy, almost syrup-like sugary vanilla accord that acts as the core of the fragrance. The main distinction lies in the background: while Rochas Man Intense has a faint lavender-coffee undertone, Artisan Ethnique leans closer to the Lattafa Raghba with a subtle, smokey edge. In both scents, these secondary notes are quite pale and sit quietly behind that sweet vanilla accord.
