Trauma Tuberose
These white blossoming agave plants fascinate, maltreat, traumatize and follow me since my earliest childhood. In our family, tuberose scents were somehow always a part of my female relatives.

Grandma on her mother's side used Fracas of Piguet during her life, Grandma on her father's side Crescendo of Lanvin my mother in the 70's and 80's Balahé of Léonard, Chloé and Lacroix' C'est La Vie... I liked these fragrances very much at all and they always gave me a pleasant feeling of security and home.

In those days, 1970-1980, I didn't know what to do with perfumes, I got my first fragrances in 1985, for my 15th birthday as a present... Macassar of Rochas and Ébène of Balmain... Long time ago.

But now back to tuberose, I have been looking for a long time for a tuberose fragrance that you can wear as a man, unfortunately only with very moderate success, mostly the Odeurs favored by me were too feminine (eg Do Son by Diptyque or Moon Bloom by Hiram Green) and / or only with simultaneous intake of an ibuprofen 800retard reasonably wearable ... especially e.g. Histoires de Parfums Tubereuse 1-3

Now, after years, quasi en passant, I have found the tuberose perfume for me: Species Land Marfa by Memo.
This fragrance does not bite me, pinch me or cause headaches or other traumas. Perfectly balanced ingredients envelop you in a velvety creamy aura, without leaving this puffy undertone of these flowers. Sandalwood and cedar give a beautiful woody base that was ultimately the deciding factor to buy this fragrance. The fragrance lasts for a good 10 hours without too much sillage, which I find perfect with this fragrance.

Finally found the tuberose for me and thanks to the charming saleswoman of one of the best perfumeries in the Rhineland I am also open to the brand Memo... the next one will be French Leather or Eau de Memo, we'll see ;-)

The scent of my life
My friend was just starting to get into niche perfumes and took me to every store on the way. I couldn't get much out of the whole thing and just put up with it.
In a wonderful perfumery in Bonn, we were shown the Memo Paris fragrances for the first time. As always, I was overwhelmed by the selection and was extremely skeptical when I started to sniff a few.
Inlé, Winter Palace, Ilha do Mel,.... All extremely pleasant, but still not amazing. I bravely continued testing until the saleswoman approached me and asked if she could recommend a fragrance. An offer I'm always happy to accept, but it's not usually a good fit.
She picked up the bottle of Marfa and BOOM!
I have never (!) found a fragrance so immediately pleasant. I was completely flashed and must have held the fragrance card to my nose a thousand times that day.
A short time later I ordered the fragrance and what can I say: it really is the fragrance of my life! No other fragrance makes me feel as comfortable, as authentic as this one. If I don't know which one to wear today - this one always works! Summer or winter? Marfa always works!
It gives me incredible confidence and makes me feel perfectly dressed. Even hours later, I love it when I can still smell it from time to time.
This beautiful floral blend of tuberose and orange blossom with a little hint of tanginess from the mandarin and everything bedded on such a soft and, for me, warm bed of vanilla and musk... a dream! There was one note that I couldn't quite identify. I think it's the agave. But it rounds off the fragrance perfectly.

You have to like floral fragrances, but I can only recommend giving it a try! My absolute signature! This fragrance also opened the door to the world of niche perfumery for me. Thanks to this success, my boyfriend and I now share a hobby. But this fragrance will always have a special place in my heart.

Marfa Simpson
Admittedly, the fragrance seems a little bizarre at first. This strange name "Marfa", which sounds like the female first name of a Simpson character, these countless eyes on the bottle that stare at you and then the categorization as a floral fragrance from the "Fleurs Bohèmes" series, which is nonetheless supposed to represent the Texan desert. Somehow it all raises a lot of question marks.

Well, to clear up these question marks, you just have to do a little research. Marfa is the name of a Texan town, hence the name. The fragrance bears the slogan "The eye of a tuberose" and the bottle with the wide-open eyes is intended to represent the enchanting effect of the tuberose, which actually originates in Mexico but apparently this plant from the agave genus also grows in the Texan desert around Marfa.

So that's settled, but now the most important part, what does "Fleurs Bohèmes - Marfa (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris" actually smell like? After the very first breath, it's not surprising to find out: Ok, very flowery and smells more like a pure-bred women's fragrance than unisex. But while I was finishing this thought process, something woody, almost smoky, suddenly intervened, giving the fragrance a more unisex character, although it still remains rather feminine for me. This is also reflected in the user numbers: of the 290 users of the fragrance on Parfumo, a full 73 percent are female. As the fragrance progresses, it becomes increasingly creamy but nevertheless remains true to its floral fragrance DNA.
Basically, I believe that if you were to blind-test 100 people and ask them "What do you associate with this fragrance?", exactly 0 of them would say the Texan desert. If you ask me, how do you imagine the scent of a Texas desert? Chewing tobacco, lead from revolver bullets and the decaying smell of dead cattle after a prolonged drought, perhaps?
However, the performance is impressive, as I was able to detect four sprays on my neck for around six hours. A good performance for a desert floral.

Even though I am generally a huge fan of Memo bottles and consider them to be among the most beautiful ever with their artistic design, I simply can't get much out of this sea of open eyes and still find it bizarre. The desert scenery with a few agaves and cacti as seen in the advertising clip for the fragrance might have been a better fit.

In terms of price, I would describe the fragrance as mediocre. 75ml currently cost around 180 euros from the cheapest supplier. Although the fragrance performs well and the fragrance DNA is particularly successful for floral fans, there are better in-house alternatives.

Those who like floral fragrances will have fun with "Fleurs Bohèmes - Marfa (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris", but I would rather recommend "Cuirs Nomades - African Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris", a real spice wonder, especially to men interested in Memo Paris.

Tuberose lotion
What I like about the whole Memo brand is that each of their perfumes is treated as a broader concept and comes with accompanying artwork and a bottle design that deserves a prominent spot in any collection. I do not care much for the bit-too-vague backstories, but I can live with that. Anyway, in this edition of the Fleurs Bohèmes line, Memo takes on the tuberose theme.

Marfa opens with a smooth and refreshing light breeze. Things feel a bit fruit-juicy here, a bit sweet and kind of sappy. It does not take long before the white florals appear, along with an overwhelming creamy sensation. It is as if Memo stripped the tuberose of all its sharp and green facets and all that is left is the velvet-smooth softness. And then the ylang, the vanilla and the sandalwood take this creaminess a few steps further, almost into body lotion territory.

Admittedly, the composition feels highly luxurious. It is clear that this is a quality product. But somehow this makes me feel like an Instagram vlogger (or any person for that matter, just picturing an image here) who layers scented body care products with high-end perfumes. Golden sparkle filter and all. Not my kind of vibe.

Marfa by Memo
Marfa is a beautifully modulated white floral with an agave nectar to add sweetness and freshness to the tuberose and orange blossom. It never veers too sharp, a bit dry leading it to unisex potential. Very long lasting, quality experience, and unique in its style. It will be noticed in a good way.

Creamy tuberose-centric scent with an interesting sweet note of Agave and a woody-musky drydown. Very chic, but relaxed.
