Very Unique Fragrance
Wow, Moncler pour Homme is simply different. I haven't smelled anything like it and my nose was quite surprised. Yeah, it's woody and there's pine. But for me the pine was more subdued - it wasn't a strong, pine air freshener type of scent. The pine sorta blended with wood and bark so it wasn't in your face (or nose, hahaha). And then the green note also added something to the blend. I'm having a hard time describing exactly what this smelled like. BUT I really liked it a lot. It's quite different and unique.

Moncler is bone dry and very masculine. If you're a guy who normally wears sweet fragrances, forget Moncler. You definitely won't like it. Performance is quite good with it still a strong skin scent at the 12 hour mark. Sillage was about arms length for a good 3 hours. Moncler pour Homme can be an easy all day perfume, not requiring reapplication.

Moncler would easily work any time of day and day of the year. I found it very wearable and will be getting a FB. If you are more reserved in your fragrance choices, you might have a tougher time with it. Definitely not a blind buy; be sure to sample first.

Note that Moncler pour Homme is available in 2, 3.4 and 5 ounce sizes. Only the 5 ounce size has the LED display shown in the picture at the top.

Fragrance LED!
The first fragrance ever from the renowned fashion house Moncler, known for its high-end down jackets. To be honest, I’m surprised it took so long for this brand to release its own scent. But never mind…

The formulation was crafted by two well-known perfumers, Antoine Maisondieu (e.g., Armani Code, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme, Montblanc Explorer) and Christophe Raynaud (e.g., Paco Rabanne One Million, Azzaro Chrome Legend, Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Pour Homme), who should know their craft well.

This Eau De Parfum is available in three different sizes: 60 ml, 100 ml, and 150 ml. Only the 150 ml version features a scrolling LED display with red lettering in the center of the silver bottle. In its "factory state," it lights up with "MONCLER," but you can use an app to change the text as you wish, with up to 80 characters or letters possible. A nice gimmick, I think. Of course, there will be people who hate this just as much and deem it ridiculous, like the robot bottle from Paco Rabanne Phantom. Schmierwurst! (translated: I don't care!)

After studying the ingredients, this fragrance should fit my preferences, at least regarding pine, cedar, vetiver, and amber. So, I expected a strong spicy woody scent! What I received was something slightly different… wood yes, but a very green, lightly perfumed Eau de Parfum with a kind of snow accord, which is anything but a beast. It evokes associations with a walk in the Alpine regions in clear and fresh mountain air and in the snow, although it does get a bit scratchy in the dry down. Probably attributed to the vetiver, which doesn’t seem as rounded here as in other fragrances.

What is completely missing here is any kind of citrus notes, neither in the top note nor afterwards. The sweetness is also initially completely absent, only just before the exit do you catch a hint of something lightly sweet and amber-like. Bold!

Overall, this is a new fragrance that cannot be compared to any other. Lightly woody GREEN fits best as a description. H/S is rather below average.

Fire and Ice or Light and Shadow
Recently, I was browsing at the friendly Turquoise to see what new things there are. Typically, there isn't much, as Dou..... is mainly known for offering a lot of mainstream fragrances and occasionally a few oddities. What caught my eye was Moncler. I searched in vain for a tester, but a very nice lady quickly came around the corner when she saw me standing by the expensive stuff, eager to assist potential buyers. The tester, according to her, was hidden because "there are people who not only come in and bathe in the scents, but also take the testers with them because they are not secured." It's quite sad what kind of jerks the sales staff have to deal with these days..... and while I ponder the decline of our society, the nice lady is already waving a test strip she sprayed in front of my nose. I like the first impression, so I ask for a skin application.

As I give the fragrance time to unfold, I wonder what it costs. A glance at the price tags makes everything clear. Moncler, which likes to associate itself with a life in luxurious chalets amidst equally extravagant mountain ranges and exalted neighborhoods, must have thought that anyone willing to spend 600 euros on a pair of sweatpants and financially able to do so should also have a few bucks left for the brand's fragrance. However, 80 euros for 60ml didn't shock me; I actually expected more. Still, the fragrance is undoubtedly not a bargain, which wouldn't fit the general attitude of the brand.

Now, onto the fragrance itself. The opening, on my skin, is somewhere between fresh, green, and herbal. This very pleasant top note soon gives way to woody undertones that, underscored by increasingly strong vetiver notes, carry through to the end. Speaking of the end, the sillage is strong in the first hour but decreases just as significantly over time; after three hours, one can no longer really speak of notable sillage. The longevity is somewhat better; even after eight hours, Moncler is still perceptible, albeit only close to the skin. As mentioned, what dominates the fragrance until the end are the woody and vetiver notes.

A word about the bottle. It feels solid and heavy in the hand, has a high-quality feel, and yes, on second glance, it fits the brand. The corrugated look is not cheap but exclusive, has a high recognition factor, and the cap and sprayer emphasize the positive impression. It's a somewhat cool statement from a brand that is aware of its position in the market and cleverly flirts with it. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is acceptable overall.

When a luxury brand launches a fragrance, it often walks a tightrope between being a total overpriced flop or a great addition to the existing portfolio. I see the fragrance as the latter. However, it will neither be mainstream nor a crowd-pleaser. Overall, it is too specific for that (which I find very good), somewhere between cool, herbal, and woody, a scent like no other. Those looking to earn well-meaning compliments from others regarding the fragrance they wear may find themselves disappointed. Moncler is more of a fragrance with edges and corners than one that aims to please everyone.
I would also critically note a certain synthetic quality that likely enables the price to be at this level; a significantly higher artisanal note would certainly have resulted in a much higher price.

Test recommendation for anyone who wants to smell something different.

Needle Forest in Hail Shower...original !?
...I have described this scent similarly in my statement and after some time, having tested it repeatedly, I still feel the same way.
The fragrance evokes associations of needle forests, snow, moss, mint, and woodworking.
It comes across as somewhat rough and unrefined and lacks a bit, how should I put it, in harmony of the accords.
But it is an original scent and definitely not mainstream!
Personally, I find it difficult to wear, as the longer the fragrance develops on the skin, a strong mint emerges that remains active on leather jackets for weeks...and that is really not my thing.
And now?
Should we simply forget it and dismiss it as the original scent that it certainly is, spraying it occasionally when we want "forest at home"?
Certainly not!
If someone is looking for a fragrance with the attributes mentioned above and it can be a bit angular and edgy, they should definitely take action here.
I can imagine that in the right ambiance and with suitable clothing, heading towards nature, one can definitely achieve an effect.
Seasonally, I wouldn't want to categorize it, but it is probably best suited for outdoor use.
Regarding the bottle, well, as always, it's a matter of taste, but it's alright. I just don't find the refillable one with the LED very optimal.

Tip: since the scent flies under the radar, it is definitely worth testing it out!

Cold Needle Forest
Do you know that feeling when you go to the city at Christmas to visit the annual Christmas tree sales stand to get a fir tree for Christmas Eve? That's exactly what this scent smells like. Just pure green needle fragrance, with woody notes and a metallic base. Not a must-have, but definitely something beautifully different. However, I can't imagine wearing this scent outside of a conifer tree. To all the guys out there: This is a ladykiller scent; if you wear it on a first date, you'll get blocked just as quickly the next morning as if you had just bathed in a pigsty. Very specific fragrance and really not for everyone. Sillage and longevity are rather average, and the price-performance ratio is poor. Let this be said!

Dissapointed, it's like any Dolce & Gabbana mall scent, and to top it off with notes I don't like. Nothing fresh and a bit cloying.

For a designer, it's really not a bad - spicy - wood scent. The green notes can be ignored, the wood hits right away and lingers.

Extraordinary wood scent - initially with slight green notes that quickly fade away. After that, pure wood. I think it's great!

Exciting scent, after spraying it I feel like I'm in a needle forest, experiencing a woody coziness. An elegant lumberjack scent.

The scent isn't a masterpiece, but I think for a mainstream fragrance it's really okay. I find the overall rating a bit too low.

Hmm. Not fresh. Not cold. Not green. Medium-heavy, way too sweet amber/sandalwood scent with a bit of wood. Quite synthetic towards the end.
