Alien Minus Everything I Hate About Alien
As someone who never fully (or even marginally...) appreciated the namesake, ALIEN, I am pleasantly surprised by this Thierry Mugler creation, the name of which strongly suggests that it is a merely tweaked flanker: ALIEN LIQUEUR DE PARFUM. In fact, this perfume wears completely differently on my skin. Gone are the synthetic purple aspects, having been replaced by enough gourmand elements, including rum, to remind me in the opening minutes of LOLITA LEMPICKA--as strange as that may sound. I should say that my sample appears to have evaporated somewhat, so I am testing a super-concentrated liquid which looks more like parfum than edp.
The jasmine of this composition is beautiful, and it mingles with the sweet and woody components extremely well to create a very enticing elixir indeed. What I tend not to like about this house, the rampant use of in-your-face synthetics, is not a problem here. ALIEN LdP does not smell at all alien to me and appears to have been totally misnamed! This is a beautiful sweet jasmine perfume which I'd love to add to my collection.
