Not a Blind Buy for Everyone
I bought Pomelo Malindi as a blind buy, but I wouldn't really recommend that. The scent is significantly more unique than the fresh citrus notes at the beginning suggest.
The opening with pomelo and yuzu is extremely zesty, juicy, and almost ice-cold. At the same time, there is immediately something creamy, salty, and slightly aromatic that gives the fragrance its own direction quickly. That’s what makes it interesting, but it might not appeal to everyone.
Over time, Pomelo Malindi evolves away from the typical freshie and gains depth through spicy and woody notes. On my skin, it feels clean, modern, and high-quality, without that classic shower gel feeling that many summer fragrances have. More Mediterranean luxury freshness than mainstream citrus.
The longevity is perfectly fine for a fresh scent, but nothing extraordinary. The sillage remains pleasantly present without becoming intrusive.
For me, it’s still one of the most exciting citrus fragrances of recent times, precisely because it is not just fresh, but also distinctive and characterful.

Pomelo Malindi - radiant start, flat development
I was really looking forward to the scent because the notes are exactly my thing. Citrusy, fresh, a bit green - actually perfect for warmer days.

The beginning is indeed strong. Right after spraying, a zesty citrus freshness emerges. Pomelo and lime are the most prominent to my nose. What pleasantly surprised me: The sillage at the start is really not bad, the scent radiates well and feels quite lively. Especially in the first few minutes, it really lifts your spirits.

But… unfortunately, that doesn’t last long.

After a short time, the scent becomes quite linear. I had hoped that something would come from the heart note - perhaps something green or floral - but for me, everything remains rather in the background. Essentially, this fresh citrus note just persists and then gradually weakens.

In the drydown, I immediately thought of classic cologne. For me, it leans quite a bit towards 4711. It’s not bad, but it’s also nothing special anymore. As a result, the scent feels somewhat interchangeable in the end.

Longevity is okay, but it doesn’t blow me away. After the strong start, it quickly becomes very close to the skin. It fits for the office or everyday wear, but one shouldn’t have high expectations.

Conclusion:
Pleasant, fresh scent with a really good start and solid initial sillage. Unfortunately, it lacks development and a bit of character. It’s wearable, especially in summer - but it probably won’t be something I reach for often.

I love every scent from New Notes…but this is a flop in every sense. The first 2 minutes are nice…after that, not anymore.

It smells exactly like Vetiver Pamplemousse by Zara, and I got the comment "It smells like pomelo rubbed with sweat."

Smells too citrusy and linear. Besides the top notes, you can't pick up anything else. In the drydown, it smells exactly like 4711 Eau de Cologne.
