Pana Dora why? What are you doing?
I was at my favorite perfumery "Liebe" today and was able to test Opuluxe there.
I had already read that Opuluxe is supposed to go in the Ganymede direction, which is one of my favorite scents.
The opening starts spicy, woody, and metallic with saffron, myrrh, and palisander wood. The other nuances quickly come through, meaning the spices. The coriander gives Opuluxe a certain spiciness in the base and lingers for a while until the drydown is reached.
Here, the suede, beaver, and mineral notes contribute to the Ganymede vibes you get.
The H/S is very good and performs for a long time.
Now for the direct comparison to Ganymede. Left inner elbow Ganymede and the right the rest of Opuluxe. The drydown is 95% similar to Ganymede; however, I find Opuluxe to be more complex and spicier, but that is only noticeable up close. The sillage is comparable.
I wonder why Pana Dora? Why are you copying Ganymede? Especially since there is also "Ganymede Extrait | Marc-Antoine Barrois," which is just as well-balanced and spicy.
Of course, both fragrances are world-class, as this spiciness paired with the metallic note is top-notch and stands out from the crowd.
It is a classy scent that can be worn at any time of day and year. These nuances always work, but the fragrance must also match the style. Here, sweatpants are definitely a taboo, and the man's age should ideally be "mid-life."
Would I buy Opuluxe? Definitely a no. The price-performance ratio is not right here. Sure, it’s an extrait, and you won’t finish 100ml quickly, but if I had the choice, I would always prefer "Ganymede Extrait | Marc-Antoine Barrois."
By the way, if you like these scent notes, you can easily test the following fragrances first for a budget-friendly option to see if you like them or not: Stallion Masa
UPDATE!
The longevity of the fragrance is out of this world. Easily 12-14 hours with 2 sprays on my forearm.
UPDATE 2!
The fragrance fascinated me so much that I ended up buying the bottle. It was indeed the spiciness of the scent that blew me away in hindsight.
