Expectation exceeded
Juniper and Vetiver stand out as everything else is bitter. Love this particular different Iris note, might be Iris roots, it's not the Iris one knows in most fragrances, it's a dark Iris. Fortunately to me Mint's close to absent, barely noticeable. Warms up in the drydown but still remains a bitter scent. Supposed to not perform well but to me it's pretty dense, with the generous attomizer it's set up well. Not versatile but very niche. As a darker scents seeker, very pleased I found it. Was supposed to be a blind buy, got to try it out in the store, instantly knew it's for me. About to dive deeper in Pana Dora's, can't wait, luv the houses overal approach, mature, stylish, unique.

While in: Dark bitters opening, just the bitter from the citrus, so nice, get dark chocolate and vetiver. Flares up with a burst of lively, the way this matured in like two years or what happened is phenomenal, sheer positivity add-on, neat highlights in the amalgam. Not Iris centered, it's all fine touches, own lane, pleasant real niche, flows smoothly, wearable.

Unique Fragrance
It was a blind buy, as my brother recommended the scent to me. At first, I was skeptical when I looked at the ratings and reviews. However, when the fragrance arrived, I was blown away. Incredible longevity, unique scent DNA, and an exceptional sillage. I have rarely received so many compliments for a fragrance; it has now become my absolute favorite scent.

An Iris with Soft Sweetness
Velvet Iris by Pana Dora is, for me, a beautiful, very well-balanced iris fragrance.
It clearly leans towards a floral-powdery direction and carries a pleasant sweetness that consistently runs through the entire scent progression. This very sweetness gives the iris softness and makes it accessible without taking away its elegance. For me, this is a classically beautiful, sweet iris fragrance. Calm, well-groomed, and harmonious.

The opening is slightly citrusy and fresh, which gives the fragrance a lightness right away. After that, it becomes gently fruitier and minimally gourmand, without ever feeling heavy or sticky. Everything remains finely balanced. In the dry-down, Velvet Iris becomes slightly woody and concludes with a soft vanilla-musk note that adds warmth and tranquility to the fragrance.

Longevity is quite good, as is the sillage. The fragrance is present and noticeable, yet remains elegant and controlled. It doesn’t seek attention, but still receives it.

In summary, I find Velvet Iris truly successful. A very cleanly executed iris fragrance that shows how well iris can work when it is soft, sweet, and harmoniously embedded.
Feminine, elegant, and simply beautiful to wear.

50/50 Blind Buy Candidate
Hello,

So I bought the fragrance as mentioned in the title blind.
And what can I say, it’s very good but also somehow not.

I have tested the fragrance for several weeks now and have come to the conclusion that the perfume itself is really very good; it starts with a very dominant sandalwood note that is almost a bit overpowering for me, but it quickly mellows into a pleasant softness. However, I don't detect any raspberry or chocolate in it. It exudes a certain CEO aura. It also gives me a subtle note of an old man, as if my grandpa were wearing this scent.

So why is it a 50/50 Blind Buy?
It’s hard to wear, you have to like it, and you should definitely test it beforehand. But if you like it, then it’s truly a standout, especially in terms of longevity and sillage; it’s really good.

My conclusion:
A good fragrance that enhances your collection both visually and olfactorily, but it’s not a scent you necessarily need to have (:

Really beautiful iris scent, BUT...
Greetings to you, dear Parfumas and Parfumos!
As I logged in again earlier and browsed a bit, I noticed that my last review was already a whole month ago. I couldn't just let that slide, so I'm now back at the keyboard.

I am very excited to write another review about a fragrance from the house of Pana Dora today, because if you take a closer look at my collection, you will find that I own one or two scents from this brand. Yes, the Swedish fragrance house founded by the Syrian immigrant and perfumer Ibrahim Al Zouabi (That's right, Al Zouabi and not Al Zoubi, you can check it out on his Instagram) has captivated me this year - a truly beautiful fragrance house with interesting compositions and equally beautifully crafted bottles.

Velvet Iris was the third fragrance from the brand that I acquired, as I am a really big fan of iris and also enjoy powdery-sweet scents, and additionally, I found the fragrance pyramid for an iris scent really intriguing - raspberry, pear, caramel, dark chocolate - I thought this could be a truly special iris scent.
And at this point, I want to connect back to my headline - Velvet Iris is a really beautiful iris scent, BUT I must honestly admit that I am a little disappointed. Neither the fruity notes of pear and raspberry nor the slightly sweet notes of dark chocolate and caramel are (at least for me) really perceptible. The scent is still really beautiful and well done, but due to the absence of the sweet, possibly even gourmand notes as well as the fruity notes, it is not necessarily "special," without a real unique selling point.

As already mentioned, Velvet Iris is still a very beautiful and also pleasant scent that leans towards the well-known and popular powdery-sweet-floral fragrance DNA in the direction of Dior Homme Intense or The Omniscient Mr Thompson.
Personally, I find it quite similar to Dior Homme Intense, but Velvet Iris is, in my opinion, drier and less sweet, or has less of a "lipstick vibe" than Dior Homme Intense.
I could have given the fragrance a 10, as it is, as mentioned, a well-executed scent and I really like the DNA, but I deduct one point for the absence of the notes mentioned above.

Longevity and sillage are typically moderate to good for iris scents; it lasts about 8 hours and is thus sufficient for a "normal" workday with a rather moderate sillage - you will be noticed, especially when you are a bit closer to your colleagues/friends, etc., without being really strong or loud. Therefore, it is quite suitable for the office, for work, university/school, for everyday life when spending time with friends (whether at home or out), and thus serves as a very good all-rounder, also suitable as a signature scent.
If you are also big iris fans, you should definitely test the scent at your trusted perfumery or as a mini-tester; otherwise, if you are not a big fan of Pana Dora like me or if Velvet Iris is not your absolute favorite among all iris scents, then acquiring the fragrance is at least not absolutely necessary.

I really hope that my review has been a little helpful to you!

Beautiful Iris, I love the blend. The drydown is heavenly soft, musky, with a subtle addictive fruity sweetness with Caramel. Need it!

Generic designer-tier iris, smells dry-powdery (woody tones beneath the iris). Super misleading pyramid, it has 0 fruity/spicy/sweet feel.
