Gourmand in a way I didn't know yet
Otimo from pernoire is very special.

When I smelled it for the first time, I couldn't say exactly what I smelled. It came across to me like dark coffee mixed with alcohol.
At the beginning, you notice the rum very strongly and the cardamom brings out a strong spiciness.
In the dry down, however, the scent is very sweet and creamy.
You get a delicious praline and tonka bean that give the fragrance a completely different twist.
Very well done by Pernoire, I've never had a scent like this under my nose before.
This stuff lasts forever and smells very unique.

Otimo was actually my first discovery at pernoire.

From granny's experiments and the complete funfair for the home
As I was going through my notes for this review, I thought to myself: "how did you get here?" This kind of fragrance is not really my cup of tea. But well, why not, I give it a shot! :D

Maybe it's somehow because advertising sometimes does what it's supposed to. I remember the many times when the Pernoire ad popped up in front of countless YouTube videos. As I write these lines, I can already hear my best friend's voice in my ear telling me again that I should get an add blocker....

....But before I digress completely, let's see what the fragrance smells like. After all, the good gentlemen said in their advertising that they would produce fragrances, quote: "wo guad schmecke!" End of quote.

Let's see. We spray on.

What comes first is what I call the "Christmas phase" of the fragrance. Grandma opens a freshly cooked jar of her quince compote. This time she was a bit experimental because she read in the latest issue of Brigitte that quinces go well with cardamom. So of course she had to add a good portion of it, so much that it was almost too overpowering. So there you have it, Grandma's cardamom and quince special blend. A sweet, fruity and spicy experience for the whole family! Sure to be a great Christmas present! This is also supported by the good old osmanthus apricot, which pulsates in the background, with additional fruity spice from the background. I even think I can detect a slightly mentholated note in between all these combined aromas. Exciting in any case. But I think that the cardamom in particular projects this.

But Grandma has another secret ingredient, of course, in the form of a good shot of rum. Rum is always a thing for me in fragrances. It can work really well, especially if you play a little with what makes fine spirits such as whisky or rum so exciting, namely the influence of the barrel or wood!
Unfortunately, I personally don't find that here. The opportunity, even if you look into the pyramid, would certainly have been there to at least "recreate" such a rum barrel, but well, possible potential wasted. The result is a rather superficial, unexciting rum note. Not a discount brand, but definitely not a VO or VSOP cru either.

After this rollercoaster ride a la "Omi Spezial", the fragrance switches gears. For me, this is the beginning of what I call the "funfair phase". The fragrance sweetens up again. I detect cookies, roasted almonds (definitely from the Tonka, as it has a similar flavor profile), freshly made (sweet) popcorn, something that reminds me of cotton candy, all slightly underlaid with quince. The compote is apparently also good to take to the funfair. The scent becomes louder again, undamped, as if you were at a funfair. However, compared to the beginning, it doesn't build up on the spicy level, but on the sweet one.

In itself, it doesn't sound all that bad at first, but for me the whole thing becomes a rather chaotically welded amalgam over time. At some point it's just sweet. Then there's my pet peeves vanilla and tonka in combination, which I often find add a "pseudo-synthethic" note to fragrances.

Personally, I hardly notice any tobacco in the fragrance, even if it is only marginally perceptible. Wood, well meant, but doesn't really add anything new or exciting to the fragrance.

So it remains a short excursion. The fragrance and I won't become best friends, but I think it's enough for good acquaintances ^^

I have finished! Mic drop. I'm off to my corner again ^^

Overload of spice and sweetness: One at the beginning, the other at the end
Well - after the first reviews on Tiktok & Co. I thought that this fragrance could really be something cool. The notes read really well: cardamom, rum, praline, quince, etc. Thanks to Raindrops, I was able to sniff the fragrance this morning - even though half of it leaked in my trouser pocket - and yes, unfortunately we won't become friends or the Otimo won't make it into my collection.

Now, to my personal feelings after a few hours of wearing and yes, you should give every fragrance a while; but I'm not like that. For me, it has to spark after the first wearing, otherwise it's a "mental compromise" for me, which often used to happen to me when buying blind. I talked myself into the good thing afterwards, even though I wasn't really satisfied.

- At the beginning, you get full cardamom, a real overload; yes, the quince is there, but practically imperceptible due to the spiciness of the cardamom... and boozy? where is the rum? Yes, you can detect it with a trained nose, but it is very subtly incorporated. This phase is the most difficult for me personally, even though I like cardamom in fragrances. Either it's too potent, or I'm just the wrong clientele.

- In the drydown, the fragrance then becomes much more bearable, the cardamom recedes and you get a sweet progression of praline, tonka on a still slightly spicy and woody base; however, the sweetness dominates. The tobacco is well perceptible and well integrated, but not the main player, which is perfectly fine. The drydown is really quite alright, not a 10/10, but a solid 7 - 7.5, except that the opening pulls the cut down massively for me.

- Longevity as far as I can perceive after 5-6 hours is quite good, and you can still smell the fragrance quite well. Solid in that respect. The projection is quite strong at the beginning because of the overload, then in the upper third, you can't complain.

Overall, an "alright" fragrance that will definitely find its clientele and its fans, but unfortunately the two of us won't become friends. The opening is simply too radically trimmed for me personally. In my opinion, a lot more could have been achieved with these notes and the guys have also proven this with other fragrances such as Mansa, & Co.

In this respect - that's it. Hope that the fragrance will still find its fans.

Gloomy gourmand
My first Pernoire and I have to say my interest is piqued.

Thanks to the sample promotion I got a sample relatively early,
the packaging alone for a sample is so full of love and attention to detail,
brands can take a leaf out of their book.

The bottles also suit my taste,
Dark and minimalist, so the aesthetics are just right.

Now to the fragrance itself:
In the opening, I immediately get a sweet rum note,
mixed with smoky accords.
A creamy tobacco, a la shisha tobacco mixed with cookie dough,
thanks to the tonka bean and praline.
A dark sweet as well as a mystical seduction.
As it progresses, it becomes creamier and a slight freshness is noticeable,
yet it remains dark and gives a slightly musty note, which has a spicy effect,
which adds a nice change to the fragrance.
It clings to the skin and retains a certain warmth.
This is underlined by woods, perhaps some oud would have been better?
Extremely good longevity, the sillage stays around you if you don't overdo it,
otherwise it can quickly become too much.
Otimo has to be used properly to shine and you have to be the type for such a fragrance.

It is clearly a fall/winter fragrance and I am looking forward to wearing it on cold days,
as well as the other fragrances of the brand my attention.
