Blending Childhood and Animals
Velvetine is a good name because when I sprayed this, I had the impression of pressing my face to a well loved toy rabbit that is trying to become real. At first it smells sweet and a little like play-doh, taking me back to my childhood. Then it becomes more clove heavy and animalic, like the fur of the family pet rabbit. I would say this fragrance is better at a distance because when I smelled my wrist to better identify the notes, it had a sour resin note. I did not pick up that note in the projection and thankfully the projection is really good with this fragrance, so mainly I smelled like cloves. I would have liked for the cypress and fir to kick in a little more, balance it out or add some complexity. The scent lasted about 6 hours on my skin and it goes for $135 for 37ml, $205 for 57ml. Those are luxury perfume prices and honestly I think you can find the same thing in your local whole foods store for a more affordable price.
