Pharaoh Rayhaan 2026

I tested this on paper when it first launched and found it way too strong and dense. I thought "I could never wear this besides very rare and specific occasions", and passed on it, even though I love this sort of DNA.

Flash forward to yesterday, I was testing bunch of different fragrances at my local store and this one stood out again. I tried it on skin this time and initially it was definitely a challenge, a bit overwhelming. But once it settles down after 10-15 minutes, my goodness!

The leather is smooth with sweet, smoky vanilla and spices. It's strong and certainly an acquired taste but it actually wears beautifully on skin and lingers in a nice scent bubble throughout the day without screaming loud.

This scent will grab attention as you walk by but it doesn't punch people in the face with anything stinky or off putting. In the air it's heavenly. Definitely masculine and unique. If tried many offerings from Rayhaan and this one is a standout.

After Terra, “The Pharaoh” is already my second blind buy from Rayhaan. After my truly good experiences with Terra, I wanted to give the brand another chance straight away - and here, too, it becomes clear why Rayhaan’s value for money is often described as good to very good.

Right from the first spray, you feel mentally transported to ancient Egypt.
Even though incense is not officially listed, I clearly pick up on it - and let’s be honest: If the fragrance is called “The Pharaoh,” the good man should be allowed to take a little incense with him into the burial chamber after all.

I’m not so sure about the coffee, though. If I hadn’t studied the pyramid of notes beforehand, I probably wouldn’t have noticed it. But now that I know it’s listed there: Yes, damn it, there’s coffee! At least somewhere between the cardamom and the woody notes.

What I find particularly exciting is the combination of benzoin, labdanum and vanilla. To my nose, these notes create a clearly perceptible amber character that gives the fragrance warmth, depth and that slightly mystical, balsamic sweetness. All of this gives the Pharaoh a remarkably coherent scent profile.

The Pharaoh is not quite as convincing to me as Terra, though. Even so, for little money you get a distinctive fragrance here that pleasantly stands out from the usual sameness of many so-called designer fragrances.

Anyone who likes resinous, sweet incense fragrances with an amber character should definitely grant the Pharaoh an audience. Those who love fragrance uniformity, on the other hand, would be better off staying outside the pyramid.

Contrary to my previous statement, I have to revise everything I wrote so far, because now after about 4 weeks of maturation, the scent has shown its potential and I really like it.
If you like incense fragrances, this one is for you.
First, I will address the performance. I applied it today around 07:00 (a good 7 sprays) and I can still perceive it at 20:00. Perfect. Just as it should be.
The scent itself indeed has a Caden DNA. Of course, the Caden is better woven and the accords are perfectly balanced, but the Pharaoh does not need to hide in comparison.
The incense in the Pharaoh is different from that in the Caden. It is a bit colder and more sacred than in the OG.
The spicy accords come very close to the OG, but I miss the fine coffee note that the OG has a little.
In the drydown, the scent also becomes creamy and the sweet accords come through more and more.
I like this DNA and will raise my original rating from 5.5 to 8, just like with H/S.
The scent is really well made, especially for this price.
Unisex? Yes, definitely, and more suitable for the colder days.
Blind buy? Definitely no. You really have to like incense and be aware that the scent needs to mature.

Rayhaan has rarely disappointed me so far, and I must say I was really curious about this niche fragrance inspired by Omanluxury Caden.

Rayhaan Pharaoh starts off dark, spicy, and boozy. Saffron in perfect harmony with cardamom and smoky wood à la "Cade" embodies an oriental, luxurious, and warm scent structure. A noble touch that directly represents a niche DNA.

What’s special are the later developing notes of vanilla, tonka, amber, and coffee. These come across as creamy, slightly sweet, and then slightly gourmand in the drydown.

Yes, the scent structure and the base are similar to the OG, no question about it. Caden is naturally a touch more high-end, and especially the saffron feels deeper and more natural. A bit more luxury than the Rayhaan, but also many times more expensive.

Longevity is a good 8 hours. The price-performance ratio is top-notch for this type of niche DNA.
