Selection Women s.Oliver 2008 Eau de Toilette

S. Oliver is not a brand that appeals to me, neither their fragrances, nor their clothes.
But when I saw online that some have compared this unassuming little fragrance to the discontinued masterpiece that is D&G Sicily, I got curious. Luckily this is extremely easy to find in my country, literally every drugstore has it.

Well, Sicily this is not. No aldehydes and no banana, like the notes list already tells us. But it's a really nice fragrance for every day! It smells like clean skin and fresh laundry thanks to the musk. Warm and kind of ambery, but also soft and refreshing. The honeysuckle in this is lovely and not too sharp like it can sometimes be, the nectarine and apple add a light fruitiness. There must be a hint of vanilla in this, too. It's not an overly sweet fragrance, just cozy.
Collection is just what a drugstore scent should be: Easy to like and very wearable, but not thin or scratchy like many others in this segment; not loud, but quite long-lasting. It's no surprise that this has been around for 14 years already. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a uncomplicated white musk on a budget.

Sometimes perfumes smell like everything, just not like what is listed in the fragrance pyramid.
s.Oliver Selection, for example, wants nothing to do with the fresh citrus fruits in the top note, but instead starts directly with a soft cream cloud. Cream of the finest kind that we know: The one from the blue can or bottle with which we were cared for as children.
I can faintly detect the sweet nectarine and the white flowers.
It is this scent of freshly creamed skin that captivates me about s.Oliver Selection. This gentle skin scent leaves an extremely well-groomed and refined feeling and conveys the illusion of security and a harmonious world. Here I can stay, here I can be.
The fragrance does not develop a true base but remains in soft watercolor hues on the skin until it fades and finally disappears completely - a beautiful illusion.

S.Oliver Selection is not a grand fragrance but a lovely one. It fits always and everywhere. It conveys a clean and very well-groomed subtle freshness like an expensive body lotion. Top recommendation for a small budget.

S.Oliver Selection has been my signature scent for a long time, for years. Before that, I loved the old Comma, but it suddenly disappeared and I searched for a replacement for what felt like years. Until I found Selection.
No other fragrance suits me as well, reflects me so much, and blends with my natural scent like this one!
However, I insist on the EDT; I bought the EDP about, hmm, a year ago or so, in a fit of "more is more" madness.
But that was a mistake. Not that the EDP smells bad, no, no.
But in my opinion, it doesn't come across as delicately and brightly as the EDT.
The EDP still sits around with a few remaining milliliters because it doesn't really suit me.
Expressed in colors or consistency: the EDT is golden, but not overly gold, more like fairy dust from a fairy tale, shimmering with silver, white, and apricot-colored particles, floating in the sun after the princess has blown it at the evil wizard to defeat him!
The EDP is golden serum with orange streaks in it. Maybe a good fairy brewed it to heal the princess!
Both are very beautiful, but I prefer the fairy dust.

I can't detect any of the individual notes in Selection. Everything merges into a single bright, delicate golden cloud of fragrance that surrounds me like a golden-flowered veil. It never bores me or annoys me. On the contrary, when I wear this scent, I feel somehow "arrived and secure." I hope that's somewhat understandable.

When I first tested it, I held the paper strip under my husband's nose at home and asked him: "How does this smell?"
Answer: Like you!
And he meant it quite seriously. My neck/the hairline always develops a similar scent, for example, when I sweat lightly (sorry if you find that gross!) or if I don't wash my hair for a day.
So it's no wonder that it blends perfectly with me.
I always make sure to have a stock of S.Oliver Selection because with these (ahem) drugstore fragrances, you never know if they might suddenly be discontinued.
And it has happened to me with previous favorite scents that I stood in front of an empty drugstore or perfume shelf without warning. TERRIBLE!
No, that can't happen to me with Selection!
I keep stocking up!

Now I'm finally writing the review for my favorite scent, reading it again, and I have to laugh at myself.
I sweat fairy dust!? YEAH, not bad! lol!

I hesitated a long time before trying s.Oliver Selection. Not because of the price, which is rather low, but because I didn't want another dust collector lying around. Still - collecting is the joy of a perfume lover... *gg* Anyway. I would occasionally spray it on myself while passing by, yet somehow I could never bring myself to make a purchase. Until I received a sample from Gaukeleya. And I must say, I do not regret the purchase. It is a very pleasant fragrance. Not exactly for warm days, as it feels too heavy for that. Therefore, I haven't been able to wear it often, but now it is supposed to stay cooler.

Selection is a warm, soft fragrance. It is not overpowering, but pleasantly understated, enveloping you like a delicate veil. Simple, subtle, beautiful. For me, it is one of those scents that didn't jump into my heart and eyes with a loud hurrah, but rather a quiet fragrance that was love at second sight. It is also a white, clean scent, and I think the bottle fits it excellently. Aglaya has already described it quite well, and there is nothing more to add. I also find the EdT significantly more beautiful than the EdP.

Despite its warmth and softness, it also has a touch of freshness. I can recognize peony, bergamot, and honeysuckle, as well as cedar and musk in the base. I have to pass on baked apple, nectarine, and lime, as well as jasmine.

The longevity is good; it lasts on me for 5-6 hours. For me, it is one of the most beautiful fragrances in the drugstore segment.

Since I've been at Parfumo... - we all know this headline from the forum and everyone has their own answer ready. For me, the sentence continues: ... my perfumes are getting more and more expensive. IT'S YOUR FAULT! All of you! I can't help it at all...

Well, in this case, Chrisantiss is to blame. Since this is an affordable fragrance, I'm not mad at all...

I became aware of the scent through the comment directly under mine. It sounded like something, although NOT pink, that I might like. Said and done. During my next aimless wandering around, I grabbed Selection Women and spritzed it on.
I really like the scent very much. From the very beginning, it is very soft and cuddly. The opening is briefly fresh, then it becomes floral and warm. No component pushes itself to the forefront - a beautiful, subtle all-rounder. I was immediately in love.
Unfortunately, the longevity is so-so - but at this price, that's not a problem. I can confidently reapply more often.

The bottle looks like an iPod in bottle format. It also somehow reminds me of EVE from the movie WALL-E. Eve looks like an iPod in robot form. My favorite scene in the movie: Eve and WALL-E dance weightlessly through space. The music in the background is so beautiful and evokes such a longing that I get teary-eyed every time...
Since I naturally have the soundtrack at home, I'm listening to that particular track while writing, kind of to get into the groove...

Conclusion: Selection Women is a beautiful, soft, feminine all-rounder. Weightless and romantic. Floral and light.

So, now I'm going to scrape the mascara remnants out of my eyes...
