After a lot of push and pull with this fragrance, I can honestly say that I love this. While Sorce gets a lot of love for their gourmand fragrances, gems like this always fly under the radar.
Truthfully speaking, I’ve never been a fan of raspberry notes in perfumes. Berries always tend to smell to sharp and overripe on my skin. In The Things Unsaid, the raspberry plays the role of sweetness. It’s very juicy and playful, without ever being too much. Paired with the peony, the scent has a “pink skies” feel. Now the rain accord here is really the star. Rain is not and will never be a “clean water” due to all of the things that exist in our environment and air. And the “dirtiness” of the rain accord here is captured perfectly. It’s not fully fresh, with a slight petichor aroma. I absolutely love how the rain feels both fresh and unclean at the same time. It gives the scent character, definition, and adds a beautiful, atmospheric touch. I also get traces of linen (the cotton?), which does push the scent more into the fresh category.
This scent smells like cotton candy clouds, fantasy love, romantic lust, and kissing in the peony garden amidst a gentle storm. It’s feels like a passion that has been brewing forever, that’s finally reached it’s brink. Like a cup, full to the brim and finally running over. And I didn’t think I could draw this kind of feeling from a perfume.
While I wish the performance was better, the scent is enough to keep me wanting more and more. I’m happy to get a big bottle and just spray to my hearts content. Beautiful in its own, and layers well with other scents (I paired this with
Delina Exclusif and it was stunning.) This is my Undine (water spirit) and my rain in a bottle. The magic of indies never ceases to amaze me!
