Idyllic The Alloy Studio 2023

Devana flower brightens this summer-friendly scent as well as the pineapple. Though I think the pineapple simultaneously sweetens Idyllic without it going into gourmand or ‘edible’ category. The pineapple, ginger, and blood orange give Idyllic an uplifting experience at the dry down; it’s a welcome departure from the ever-present bergamot note in so many fragrances. I get the star anise note (beautifully blended in the background). I don’t get much spearmint.

If Kinesis (review below) is built for summer dates in the sunshine, Idyllic is built for summer dates after dark. However, I don’t think Idyllic can only be worn in summer nights. It would be gorgeous fall and winter days too.

This isn’t super mass-appealing, but I find Idyllic absolutely intoxicating! I want to smell like it and I want my spouse to smell like it. For this only being a paper test, I give this 100/10. Can’t wait to try this on skin! Also very similar to Penhaligon’s “Eau du Adacity” and Paris Corner’s “Rifaqaat.”

I was most excited about this scent in the discovery set and it ended up being the biggest disappointment. It’s by far my least favorite of this house. It’s a one note cherry chapstick. That’s it, nothing more. It’s dry and slightly stale, not juicy and fresh like I expected. I get absolutely no pineapple from this scent. It’s not a skin scent but it’s definitely no beast. It last for hours especially on clothes.

Juicy, JUICY pineapple. After the initial tropical blast I can appreciate how the top notes are bringing together mint and spices to form a more rounded-out pineapple accord and give that initial hit of acidic, juicy yellow. As it settles it does turn a bit more synthetic, creating a lasting impression of pineapple Jarritos which I cannot stop raving about. If you're into beverage gourmands, this is your ticket to paradise. Sit back, pop a gummy pineapple, and let the spices wash over you. As the scent progresses it moves towards that sweet tonka bean over resinous depths - approachable, social, with it, and ferocious. A crowd pleaser if there ever was one. This has gone into my party rotation and moved to the top of my list when friends ask for pineapple frags.

Fruits galore, Idyllic is the first perfume to ever actually smell like pineapple to me. My god, it is delicious. A door opens, where a cool breeze welcomes in a super star team of spice and fruits. The spearmint is stronger than the black pepper, yet together they work to prevent the sweet, ripened fruits from becoming overripe. What comes to fruition is a performance of a lifetime.

Like any good concert, the time passes too quickly. As a mostly fruity fragrance, the longevity suffers a bit. For about 3 hours, the performance is decent. Yet still, it leaves you screaming for an encore. The dry down itself is an okay synthetic tonka bean, a little irritating to the nose. This should be applied with a medium to light hand and reapplied after 5 hours. I recommend this to people who love a sweet pineapple in the summer, a carbonated blood orange drink, or a mulled wine.

Be warned, my mom found this to be like a car air freshener. The piney scent made it veer into cologne territory for her.

Upon first spray you will be able to smell the base notes quite well. Powdered resin, dry, smells like you would expect from a niche fragrance. Give it a moment to dry and the pineapple will come through. It truly is just pineapple juice with a that powdery tree note and resin underneath.
This has mass appeal capability, I don’t know anybody who just despises to smell of pineapple. Those underlying notes beneath the pineapple really make this fragrance awesome.
As it dries down or you smell it closer there’s a bit of a funk to it that I’m not sure I like. Sort of a thicker textured scent, a bit like sweat but not quite. Overall it’s a very solid fragrance. I’m a sucker for fruits and woods.
