Neat vanilla/patchouli combo
Theodoros Kalotinis Vanilla is part of the house’s Eau de Parfum collection and is a spicy vanilla characterized by a fairly heavy-handed use of patchouli, along with some caramel, which is kind of the logical effect (to me) of blending vanilla and patchouli, a sort of sharp sweetness that feels midway between the cakey sweetness of the vanilla (in this case) and the herbal spiciness of the patchouli. Definitely a must-try for fans of vanilla/patchouli blends, or something to be avoided if you dislike either note. Overall, I think it’s a decent combination of the notes, while probably being a little more patchouli-heavy than what I typically gravitate toward, taste-wise, but it feels nicely executed.

Like the rest of the Eau de Parfum collection, Vanilla is very reasonably priced at 45 euros for 50ml, sold only through the website. I purchased my sample as part of a discovery pack of five, which can be customized on their website.

Well balanced Vanilla
A sweet vanilla softened by salted caramel....a beautiful contrast, I must say that I found this fragrance really pleasant.
The omnipresent patchouli in Kalotinis fragrances completes the work, giving strength to the whole.
I don't wear gourmand fragrances but this one is really well made, with excellent value for money.

Vintage vanilla
It is creamy and kinda sweet, like buttery vanilla but... when it dries down the patchoulli turns kinda intense, became more present now, so it is like 65% patchouli. If you like it go for it. It´s not thaaaat gourmand. More like a herbal sweet kinda scent. It is strong, so if you dont like that old type of patchouli scents this one´s not for you.

Complicated, masculine vanilla
On a tester, to my nose, this is a patchouli forward vanilla with a touch of sweetness. Before I perceive the vanilla, I smell musk, spiciness, wood, creaminess....and I discover the vanilla in the creaminess. Given how photorealistic, gourmand, and true-to-their-name other Theodoros fragrances are, this was quite the surprise and not at all what I expected.

On my skin, the patchouli fades a touch and I discover a musky vanilla. My skin does weird things to fragrances, so in the dry down it becomes a musky, minty scent with vanilla in the distant background. This isn't what I typically go for when I'm looking for a vanilla, but I can tell that it is well done, so I won't hate on it.

Certainly leans more masculine than unisex.

Grandparents who aren't really grandparents...
I am an 80s child. So, a generation that still went outside and had to entertain themselves. I'm not saying this because I think the current generation is living wrong or we are right. Just for the understanding of my story. I have oriental roots. That's why some things were simply not possible back then. For example, pets. In my youth, I made it my mission to help elderly people and at the same time fulfill a wish that my parents would never have fulfilled for me. As I said, a pet. Whenever I saw older people with a dog, I befriended them, and over time I learned when they took their dogs for walks, where, etc.... until I finally asked them if I could take their dog for a walk.

Well, that's how it happened that over time I got about 4 German grandmas and 3 grandpas. Plus 7 dogs. Of course, not all at once. This all happened between my 12th and 17th year of life. I have many memories of that time and all those people. But when Vanilla arrived at my place and I smelled it for the first time, this scent transported me back to those apartments. When I had to go to them every year on Christmas Eve morning to get my presents that they had for me. The apartments of these people smelled exactly like this vanilla. I felt so comfortable and at home with these people back then. For me, they were my grandparents. They were there for me more than my real ones. That's not a reproach, rather a fact. I saw my real ones once a year for a few days. But these people helped me with school, gave me food when my parents were working, invited me to celebrations, took me into the city. All of this came back to me when I smelled this vanilla. Theodoros Kalotinis is an amazing perfumer. There are so many good perfumers out there, I don't know anyone who can present such realistic scents like he does. I find gourmands are not scents you can wear for a specific purpose. They are simply too realistic for that. A Coffee Addict can make the person next to you wonder if someone spilled coffee, for example. But what they definitely do is trigger memories and comfort. For me, Kalotinis is always a clear recommendation. The price-performance ratio is fantastic. I have nothing to complain about.

Very elegant. Patchouli is smelled, but overall it's a nice scent. I get butter, manly vanilla, creme, slight salt, and something earthy.

On my skin it smells like butter vanilla cookie. I really love this, so easy to wear. On some skins patchouli is more dominant.

Such delicious sweet vanilla. Reminds me of the cow cream candies. Creamy, caramel-like, soft. Lasts only as long as the candy..

Bake, bake a cake,
with vanilla sugar.
With caramel,
it won't be too light.
Patch, our guest,
prevents the sugar from sticking.
